Getting IBooks To Read To You Automatically With Page Turns?
Apr 7, 2010
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)
I know a few of you were interested in this. Here's how to do it (according to lioncourt.com, who are self proclaimed experts in Apple accessibility).
1. Turn VoiceOver on. Unless you're using it all the time, I suggest going to the settings pane and choose Accessibility, VoiceOver then check 'triple click of home to turn VoiceOver on or off' or whatever the option is. Can't check right now as I am using my iPhone to post this and if I come out of Safari this text will disappear.
2. Open iBooks and the book you want. Triple click the home button to tum VoiceOver on. It will say 'VoiceOver on'.
3. Place two fingers on the screen. Make sure they're fingers held next to each other. Flick those fingers downwards in a smooth quick motion. You may have to practice to get it right.
4. VoiceOver will begin to read the page from the top, and when it gets to the bottom, it will turn the page for you and carry on speaking the next page. And so on. To stop it just tap on the screen anywhere with one finger (VoiceOver will most likely read whatever is under your finger, then stop. )
5. Unless you want to carry on using VoiceOver gsetures for everything else you do with your ipad, remember to triple click to turn it off again when done.
Caveats to this are that I do not have an ipad to test this because I'm a forgotten UK apple fan, I'm just relaying what lioncourt.com has said. Usually they get it right with regards to VoiceOver but not always.
Here's someone else's youtube demo for those who can see (no narration to describe how to do it, just a video of someone doing it) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5kLiRxuuq0
Unable To Read Multi-page Tiff Attachments - Can Read Only First Page
Nov 26, 2010
I like very much The ipad, and i use IT everywere is possible:from browsing The web to writing emails, from playing games to listening to music. But there's a big problem:i can't read multi-page tiff that I use very much within my enterprise. I can only read The first page of these files, other pages seems to not exist.
I've made many tries:installing readdle docs and other applications didn't solve The problem (also these applications showed only The first page) and both mail application and gmail browser client show a question mark as attached file in preview, i can download this as image but still I can only see The first page. Did anybody managed to solve The problem? Google didn't...
Unable To Read Mails/seems To Automatically Stop Listing Read Emails?
Dec 13, 2010
My ipad seems to automatically stop listing my read emails. They remain on the unit for a day or so, then they disappear. They are still listed on my Mac Mail on my computer, but the ipad won't keep them. How do I keep read emails?
Does anyone here get bothered by all the pop-ups from the Safari browser itself? Touch the iPad longer than intended and you get all this save-copy-paste pop-ups. Not only that, it also turns the whole page darker (highlighted). Is there an option to turn off the editing mode.
When I scroll down a page in Safari I use my thumb along the right side to scroll; however, often times the screen turns blue signifying a copy/paste, not what I want to happen. Using the text area to scroll one needs to be careful not to open a "hot" link to another web page.Sure would be nice to have a wider right-side scroll area that isn't sensitive to a copy request.

If I lose my place while reading in IBooks, is there a way to go to "last page read". Several times i have had to search to return to my last page. Seems to bookmark the last page read but does not return you there if you inadvertenly go elsewhere in the book.
Is it possible to have iBooks read you the book like the Kindle does. I mean this is a much more powerful machine than the kindle so I can't believe it does not.
I buy books, read them, then sell them, then use those proceeds to buy more books. That way, I can get new books when they come out, but not clutter my library or tie up my capital in them. So, I want to do the same with my ibooks. I want to buy them, read them, and sell them.
I can't find an ibook aftermarket. Can you buy used ibooks? Corrolary, can you sell them? Is there a medium that is currently already doing this? Or do I need to create one?
How do I read my iBooks on my iMac? I can see them in iTunes, but I don't know how to open them. I want to read them on my giant 27" iMac screen, instead of my iPad.
Information: iMac 27-inch 2.8GHz Quad Core Mac OS X (10.6.4)
I have loaded some PDFs into iBooks on my iPhone. Should these automatically (wirelessly) sync to iBooks in my iPad? Or is this functionality only available for purchased iBooks?
At my school the wifi needs to be set up with a proxy. I add the correct server/port info, and then click on the network to get on it. It connects, then brings up the log in page to Apple.com, so I know the internet is working, but I need to know how to get out of the login page, without it dropping the network (ie clicking the home button or clicking cancel). The wifi does not have a username and password requirement, all it needs is the server/port numbers.
I want to make it so pages don't refresh when I open page from safari, it's annoying, and when I goto a chat site, it refresh and I have to re enter info to get back in chat...
Not to mention work lost when I work on a post, have paragraphs...check email, go back to continue post, it refreshes and I lose everything...
We received some feedback from our users who own an iPad, that Hebrew ePubs display properly on the iBooks. The only problem they faced (so far) is that the pages are being displayed the other way around (i.e. Left to Right as in English instead of Right to Left as it should be in Hebrew or Arabic). Just t make it clear, the Hebrew text itself is being perfectly displayed. It's just the pages order which makes reading awkward. Is there any way to change this page appearance settings or should I consider it as a "bug"?
Can I easily convert my Nook books to be able to read them in iBooks? I just got an iPad, and I'd like to have all of my books in one app. Not to mention, I'm seeing terrible reviews on the Nook app.
Even though it is possible to read books via iBooks on my iPad 3, I am looking for an option on iBooks that can enable me to archive the books that I have read already. Is there any option available for that and how can I make use of it?

Does anyone know how to enable IBooks to read all EPUB files? I have several that I downloaded on a site that remarks they are readable in Adobe Digital for Mac (they are), I can import them in ITunes and sync to my IPad, but they are not readable in IBooks. I get the message that the file has the wrong structure
