View 5 RepliesFrom my reading so far I gather that the iPad will play MP4 video files. But does it have to be specially prepared, with certain size etc? Thearbitrary example I tried (which plays fine on my PC) didn't even show up on my iPad!

My brother has just purchased the new iPad and wanted to know what the best video player app was to play movies. I use VLC on my iPhone 4, but unfortunately it was withdrawn from the App Store and you can only get it from Cydia now. Seeing as there is not a public jaibreak for the new iPad yet, what is the best alternative available on the App Store to play video files. (AVI, MP4, MKV etc)
Also, is there a way to stream movies from the PC to be viewed over the iPad? If so, any ideas how?
I would like to buy the connection kit for ipad 3 (new ipad).
* Does it support all makes/brands of SDHC and micro-SDHC cards, for example from Sandisk, Samsung, Transcend, etc?
* Any limit on the capacity (for example 4GB; 8GB, 16GB, ...) of memory card?
* Is there any restriction/limit on the size of photo, audio, video files that can be used with this device?
* I want to use it to play AVI, MKV (H.264) or any other video file of upto 4-5 GB. The files will be copied to the SDHC or micro-SDHC meomory card and the card will be inserted in the connection kit. The connection kit will be inserted in the ipad3 connector to access and play the video file from ipad3.
* I would like to play the video files directly from the memory card, without copying to ipad 3. But if copying is the only possibility then its fine too.
* Should the movie be copied in a particular directly structure, like DCIM directory?
Following link says that playing H.264 videos is possible. [URL]
I tried playing a wav file of one of my family members and a black screen with a picture of a speaker with a line through it and it won't play.

I'm trying to transfer video files from my pc to my ipad 3. When i use iTunes i can get the files to the library but not to transfer. I've tried all sorts of formats but nothing works (same with mp3 files). I've tried a couple apps (playable and one other free one) with no luck. Also i want to play non apple approved formats so am really looking for a good app that transfers either via wireless or usb cable (not dropbox or similar as it uses bandwidth and costs money in this corner of the world).
View 4 RepliesSo I was very excited to see this update but it doesn't seem to play the video on my iPad...I know it's an iPhone app but is there a reason that this will not work on an iPad?

View 11 RepliesI am planning on getting a 3G iPad and camera kit and I have a iPhone 3GS and a Lumix ZS3 camera that shoots video in AVCHD lite, will the iPad be able to play back the video clips from my camera?
View 24 RepliesI transferred some videos from my grandparents' camera to their iPad. It was already in .mp4 format, iTunes plays it fine, and it copied the videos over. The thumbnails are displayed under Videos, but when I play the video I only get a black screen whilst the audio plays (correctly) in the background. Also, when I tap the screen, no video interface comes up.
View 4 Repliesevery time I try to open the videos on my iPad it instantly goes back to the main screen. I've tried rebotting it, restoring to factory settings and have googled my fingers off. I find helps for when the iPod app stops working but not the video. I'm very frustrated and would appreciate anyone's assistance.

I had an Ipad a while back, but the main reason I got it is for playing music videos while I work out. I hated the fact that you had to manual make it play another music video and returned it for that reason. I realize it does way more than that, but that was the big reason I got it, my macbook pro will not fit on a treadmill. Has this issue been fixed or is there an app that will make it possible to play a music video playlist with out having to manually start each video?
