View 14 RepliesIf only the Mute button would mute the whole device, it would be somewhat usefull. But, as it is, it is just a stupid button.make it at least an option. hardware Rotation Lock was awesome and trully usefull.
View 40 RepliesThere were times I was really hoping for iOS 4.2 to come to my iPad. Within an hour I wish my lock rotation switch from 3.2.2 was back. Instead of leaving the very useful switch as is, Apple decided to give it a very useless task; partly muting iPad sounds. So far I have hardly ever muted my iPad and in the instances I did, the keep the "volume button pressed for a few sec's and volume will drop to zero" worked perfectly. What I do use very often is lock rotation.

View 1 RepliesThe right side of teh iPad is now mute and not the screen rotation lock. How can I lock the screen from rotation?
View 4 RepliesAfter loading the new up dated software 4.2.1 the screen rotation lock now does not work and displays sound off. The button below still works (sound) function. Does any one have a fix or is this a new bug that 4.2.1 has introduced...
View 5 RepliesI dropped my iPad yesterday (with it in the Apple Case) and it hit right on the screen rotation lock switch. There is a tiny little dent that doesn't look too bad, but it bad enough that the screen rotation lock switch no longer slides (I suppose it is wedged). Will Apple do anything for me? I imagine I'll have to pay to get it fixed but I am not sure.
View 4 RepliesCan those lucky few with iPads tell me Do you have the rotation lock on your iPad instead of a silent switch like on the iPhone?
View 2 RepliesHow can I lock the screen rotation in iPad2? Please provide the step wise details on doing it.
View 1 RepliesWhen I slide it downward, the Ipad mutes... I don't think it's supposed to do that is it? Is this a configurable option? Or did Apple miss the Rotation Lock 'rework' in mfg??
View 3 RepliesI have accidentally disabled the screen rotation lock in my iPad3. Can you help me to enable it again?

Always had my IPad 2 locked on landscape. Weirdly and suddenly today I notice the screen flipping around and when I went to reset it found the icon gone, and in it's place a "lightness" control. How did this happen ? Where is the rotation icon gone? Can I rectify this myself (no boffin)
View 4 RepliesAfter 4.2 upgrade the lock button changed its function to muting.
View 2 RepliesI have just installed iOS 4.2.Strangely my screen rotation button has changed function and has now become a mute button instead.
View 11 Repliescan someone point me in the direction of a solutions list for the myriad of bugs and changes that have been implemented with iOS 4.2?Issues include but are not limited to:
nScreen lock button becoming a mute butto - at times doesn't even truly mute
App links not working
Data entry difficulties
Reduced battery life
3G not working properly.
I am sure that other people have asked all of these questions however surely this release deserves a category of its own where people can quickly access this information? At the rate topics are posted on here it will be faster for me to wait for the next OS than look for answers to these faults.

View 5 RepliesI have an iPad I. On the right hand side of the unit, just above the volume control, is a button that is supposed to freeze the screen so it will not rotate when you turn the iPad 90 degrees or whatever. When I press that button, it doesn't work. What I get when I press it, is a volume indicator with a line through it that appears briefly in the middle of the screen. When I punch it again, the volume indicator reappears and the line through it goes away. I can toggle back and forth between those views all day long.
View 6 RepliesI've noticed that when I switch the orientation lock button it mutes the ipad rather than locks the screen. What is going on with that and how can I fix it? Has anyone else had that issue?
