I installed 4.2.1 and I still get the same interface as before. I got the Game Center and the Mute button is there and iTunes says that 4.2.1. is the operating system but no bar, no folders. Is there a switch I have to throw?

The mute button doesn't even mute the iPod app....whats the point?
View 9 RepliesIf I flip the mute button down, it shows that my sound is now muted. I start up Dominion HD (after making sure it was not in the background) and I hear the music at startup. I have to go back to the rocker switch to actually mute audio. Any ideas on how to make the mute button mute the audio?
View 5 Repliesi was watching a movie the other night when someone called me, i thought using the 'new' mute button would be quick and easy but it didn't actually mute the video, it kept playing. after i ended my call i tried to see if it would mute music but that didnt work either? i was wondering if anyone had a solution to this?
View 5 RepliesI have tried the Apple user forum and received conflicting answers about the mute button. When I have the switch set up to mute and then use it, it does not mute music or anything though it says in the bell that comes up that what I choose was muted but was not. Apple always wants to reset.. other users say it only mutes for something's and not for music? Others have he the same problem worked well with iPad2 what the mute button really does and/or can I get it to work as I feel it should.

I am sure that other people have asked all of these questions however surely this release deserves a category of its own where people can quickly access this information? At the rate topics are posted on here it will be faster for me to wait for the next OS than look for answers to these faults.

Maybe I missed something from the notes on the last operating system update. But I've noticed now that my IPad screen lock switch now is acting like a mute button. So sliding the switch doesn't not prevent the screen from rotating with acceleration / gravity, it simply mutes the sound. The "anti rotate" symbol no longer appears, instead a mute on/off symbol appears when the switch is activated. Have I overlooked some setting, or is it just broken?

View 2 RepliesI am new to Apple. I ordered the 32GB, 3G Ipad. I currently use a backup program from Paragon to back up my entire windows system, including the operating system. It has really proven useful. If I happen to get a virus that gets by my anti-virus program or something else really bad, I can simply restore my complete system from a different hard drive where I have the copy stored. How can something like this be done with the Ipad? I know it syncs with Itunes, but can the whole flash drive be re-done from a copy that you make with some program, similar to Paragon?

View 4 RepliesI recently reinstalled Windows and want to re-sync everything from the iPad onto the new PC OS with iTunes.
However it's saying my iPad is sync'd to another computer and that if I want to sync it to the new computer it will have to erase the iPad. How do I sync everything on the iPad to the new PC OS, rather than the computer to the iPad?
I de-authorised the former PC operating system and have authorised the new one via iTunes, and it even states the new PC is authorised.
If I buy an Ipad 2 now (6/2012) will it come with IOS 5 or whille I have to download it?

Are we going to see a customized iPad 4.0 OS as Fall approaches, or will they be running identical operating systems? If that's the case, then wow. I was hoping for an expose like multi-tasking a few substantial features that would give some differentiation besides screen size. I mean, even the iPhone will now have iBooks.
