Dropping Hotspot Connection After Screen Lock?

Nov 10, 2011

I am tethering my iPad 2 to my iPhone 4 via WiFi. Both devices are running iOS5. When my iPad goes to the lock screen, it losses the connection. I have to go back to my iPhone, turn the Hotspot to off then on, then reconnect my iPad. This is a pain since I have to keep my iPad from locking in order to maintain the Hotspot connection. I guess the other option would be to disable lock screen but that leaves my iPad vulnerable to unauthorized access.

3G Keeps Dropping Connection To Sprint Overdrive 3G/4G Wifi Hotspot

May 3, 2010

In my House, I use Sprint overdrive 3G/4G. My computers connect to this hotspot using WiFi. This is the device I have -http://mobilebusiness.sprint.com/broadband/index.html?pid=4&id9=vanity:overdrive?id9=SEM_Google_P_Sprint_Mobile_BroadbandWhen I connect to my Sprint Overdrive 3G/4G over WiFi - iPad drops the connection and says subscribe to AF&T Cellular Plan.Even though my i have 3G in my iPAD, I have kept that only when I travel to a different city. It is frustrating to see iPad connects to Sprint Overdrive 3G/4G - but after 2 minutes drops the connection. My other 2 laptops have no problems - it is only iPad 16G 3G that I have - cannot connect to it.

WLAN Connection Dropping?

Jul 2, 2010

After a Few failed downloads (they simple Abort after some minutes) and problems when streaming videos (Youtube etc.) I think my WLAN Connection is dropped every X minutes. Because my macbook (which is next to my iPad) does not have this Problems, I would like to know if it is a ipad-WLAN related problem or not.

Is there any program to test this out/show when the Connection dropped the last time?

Ipad 2 Keeps Dropping The Wi-fi Connection

Jun 22, 2011

My ipad2 keeps dropping the wi-fi connection. I renew the lease in settings to get it back but it keeps going this every so often. I don't think there's a problem with the router as laptop and iPod touch don't drop connection in the same way.

Dropping Connection - When Desktop Users Log In?

Aug 2, 2010

Whenever my wife logs into the desktop computer (which uses the same router as my ipad) and starts browsing, checking her web based email, my iPad connection gets dropped.

I've updated router and ipad firmware, tried WEP and WAP security, but I still get dropped regularly.

Also, even after the ipad firmware update, I can still be sitting right next to the router and the ipad shows 1 bar of wireless strength. How can that be?

I have a dlink DIR-655 and haven't found anyone else with this issue.

Would configuring a static IP help, be worth a shot? (I don't know how to do that but I saw someone mention this in another post).

IPad 2 Keep Dropping Wifi Connection

Why does my iPad 2 keep dropping the wifi connection? It keeps it for a few minutes when it is first switched on but then drops it and only re-establishes it by switching off and on again.

IPad 3 Dropping WiFi Connection Intermittently

Apr 7, 2012

I have a new ipad 3 (32gb wifi) and although I have a good wifi signal though out my house, couple times a day I lose my data connection. Its as though the network hangs. Normally happens when I downloading apps or putting significant traffic through my wifi connection. Only solution I have is to reboot, at which point it seems to work again with no further intervention. Until it happens again.

Have a number of other wifi devices (ps3, laptops, android phones) that have no issue with locking up wifi connections to my router with them. My wifi signal is strong and uploads/downloads are comparable to my other devices (I only have a 3 mb connection to the house). Things I have tried without resolving the wifi lock ups.

IPad has a Dedicated ip address on my network.
Looked at the channels being used in my area and selected one with minimal contention
Reset network settings.
Turned off 'ask to join networks' because of potential conflicts.

General :: IPad 2 / 6.1.2 - Dropping WiFi Connection

Jan 24, 2014

I have an iPad 2 (6.1.2) on a Verizon Internet (3Mbps). I have a cisco wireless router and I have been able to connect just fine for a bout 2 years. Just recently I have noticed it looses the Wi-Fi and switches over to 3G when i am more than 30 feet or so from the router. I am still able to connect to the Wi-Fi quite a distance away from the router on my laptop.

Keeps Dropping My WiFi Connection Despite Indicating Full Signals?

Dec 7, 2010

I have seen threads that indicate problems with WiFi speed after iOS 4.2.1 was released, but my problem isn't with speed exactly.

In brief, my iPad will essentially go to sleep on its WiFi connection regularly, despite showing a 100% WiFi signal at all times. I can correct the problem temporarily by turning the WiFi off and then on again, but this is quickly becoming a nuisance.

Speedwise, the speed is terrific when it's locked in and working. So I don't have the slowness issues some others are reporting. It's just more of an all-or-nothing deal.

Per some threads I read elsewhere, I tried resetting my network on the iPad, but the problem persists.

Are there any known solutions out there? Do we have any indication that Apple is aware of the problem?

Internet Connection - Keeps Dropping Out When Try To Download Latest IOS Update

Jun 26, 2011

I have a very bad Internet connection and it keeps dropping out when I try to download the latest iOS update with itunes for my iPad, the download starts again from the start each time it drops out even though half of it was completed. I have been given a place to download it from using a download manager:- [URL]

I have downloaded the latest update and installed it by putting the file in the correct folder. I seem to be having problems now with some things on the iPad; crashes etc. If I do a factory system restore on iTunes will I be able to put all the apps back where they are now with the backup that iTunes does each time it connects, or are there some other instructions that I should follow. will I loose all the app data i.e. Documents, spread sheets etc etc?

General :: IPad Keeps Dropping Connection To Broadband Network

Apr 25, 2013

My iPad keeps dropping connection to broadband network. What's the best way to 'bridge' the gap between the router on top floor (3rd floor) and iPad on the ground floor? I don't think its an issue with the iPad itself because my laptop use to do the same thing until I got a 30 metre ethernet cable and now it never drops connection and is as fast as in the room where the router is. However, I do most of computing on the ground floor, so I am looking for a way to close the space between the ground floor and the router.

I have very decent router so I don't think upgrading it will do the job. I also have a spare router. Can I use an ethernet cable to connect the second router to the first router and place the second it on the middle floor (from what I've read, I don't think this method actually works). So what are my options? I have tried a repeater and didn't do the job. If anything, made it worse in terms of speed. I have also logged into my broadband setup and tried various channels but only acquiring minimal improvements on some channels, not enough to drop connections on quite a regular basis.

By the way, when I go on the middle floor and of course the top floor itself (where the router is positioned), the speed improves dramatically and hardly experience breakages. I should say that I am on a pretty fast network delivering speeds up to 76mb/s but speed is usally under 5 mb/s on the ground floor over WiFi (around 60mb/s over ethernet connection).

IPad 3 :: WiFi Connection Dropping Repeatedly - Signal Strength 2 To 3 Bars

Mar 23, 2012

I am having continual wifi problems. I will be connected and running fine, then connection will drop. It will show the connection in the wifi menu, but keeps saying it can't connect. After many minutes (as much as 10-15), it will finally make the connection, and may hold it for a minute to a half-hour before repeating the dropped connection. The signal strength meter will usually be 2-3 bars during this period, but when I am connected, it will be at a solid 3. I have two laptops, a PS3 and two cell phones all running on the wifi and in the same room as the iPad, all of which experience no connectivity issues. New iPad is VZW 32GB, but I do not have cell active at this point, and is disabled in menu.
