I have a dropbox on my PC at home and am abroad for a few months with only my iPad. But i forgot to transfer music before i left. I have managed to get my flatmate to put some mp3's into my dropbox but i cant work out how to get them transferred to the iPod app.
Also it would be useful to be able to transfer avi files to the VLC or DivX apps.
I've installed FileApp Pro hoping I would be able to see the folder and file structure on my iPad but I can't figure out how to do it? I have created a document in Pages but It doesn't seem to show up anywhere in FileApp - I would like to be able to open it in Office2 HD but there doesn't seem to be an option to browse for files?
PDF Provider for ipad is an outstanding app which lets me do things I can't even do on my PC, like copy my blog while in administrative mode, but there is one thing I can't figure out. How do I send a .PDF from PDF Provider to my Dropbox.
I use Dropbox a lot, and aside from the occasional hiccup it syncs fine across my devices.
I added a folder called "iPad sharing", specifically to be able to get content from my iMac to my iPad. I created the folder on my iMac, and it shows up in DB online and on all my devices, except for my iPad. All other DB folders (and the content in them) display fine on my iPad.
I am using Office HD to update former xlsx or Word files. I downloaded legacy files from PC laptop to Dropbox. I also have File Manager but not sure I need that; seems redundant. I want to save and backup files via dropbox or icloud. When I create or update a file in Office it saves to folders in Office. I do not see how to save or move the updated file to Dropbox or File Mgr.
I do not want to keep moving them from one folder structure to use, and another structure to backup.
I bought the new PDF expert app, and both have dropbox synced to them. I want to delete the dropbox folder synced to my old PDF expert app, but I am afraid that if I do it, I will end up deleting all my files when I open up the dropbox app. How can I delete the dropbox folder in my old PDF expert file without deleting any files in dropbox or the new PDF expert? Having duplicate files is taking up a lot of space...
I've posted this in a few threads recently and thought some might find it useful on its own. As a power user (see my signature) solving the file management and related workflow issues has been a seemingly endless quest. I think I've finally hit on a solution. It definitely works. It definitely is not free. And it definitely should be replaced by a baked in solution from Apple...perhaps in iOS5 and the related MobileMe revamp.
Here's what I do in the meantime...
A) Use Dropbox. Subscribe (and pay) for additional storage as needed.
B) Use MacDropAny, a free Dropbox add on applet, to sync your Mac's Documents folder to your Dropbox. This creates a two way, real time sync.
C) Use dropDAV to allow iWork apps to pull in files from Dropbox AND, critically, to save files back directly into Dropbox. This has been the elusive last piece of the puzzle and avoids the email-file-to-yourself dance.
So my files exist on my Mac for archival/back up, in the Dropbox app as needed on the iPad, and in the cloud. All sync'd in real time. Gives you some nice redundancy too.It ain't as smooth or pretty as it should be, but it works!I do think Apple is going to fix this. But until they do, this works just fine...And yes you might suggest replacing Dropbox with iDisk BUT iDisk is flaky, and requires the creation of a sym link in terminal to sync it with your Documents folder. Until iDisk works better, I can't recommend it for heavy lifting.
I had my email set up at pop3 email and I changed it to imap. When I delete an email it says it can't move it to the trash folder..... I want to use imap so when I delete email on my cell it deletes it on my iPad....
I have a folder for car pictures on my iPad. I have transfered them from my pc using iTunes. I also have saved some photos to my iPad in the saved photos folder. Is there a way to put these photos that i have saved to my iPad to a folder that i have created from my pc through iTunes?
I am using gmail and am accessing it on the Internet. I will be traveling, and I want to move some email into my Personal folder. I do that easily on the computer, and I figured out how to view the folder, but I cannot find the move button.
Hi quick questions about the folders within the photos on my iPad.
Is there a way to have multipul folders within a folder?
So for example on my pc I have a folder called holidays then within that folder there are many different folders of different holidays etc, but when I access the holiday folder on my ipad all the pictures are in the one folder?
How can I add more than one folder of photos to the iPad?I have no problem getting one folder to sync to the iPad but when I go back and try to add another folder of photos the one I already put on the iPad gets deleted from the iPad.
I have an itouch And I am always to see all of folders I have added and can always add or delete as many as I want.Does anyone know how I can add multiple folders without deleting what is already on the iPad ?
I was at the Apple store and no one could answer my question. With my Dropbox app I can access my files, and open a document in Pages. If I do some editing or add to the document how do I get back into dropbox? I do not want to go through iTunes or email it to myself. I just want to return the document to dopbox.
I would like to drop my Excel files into DropBox and then open those files using an app on my iPad to change the files and then deposit those change files back to DropBox so i can use them on my PC. Is it possible?
I need to know if is possible to read PST files in DropBox in Ipad. My idea is to put my PST file in Dropbox, and open anywhere in my Ipad. Is this possible? If I do this, my PST file will be on DropBox or in my Ipad memory?
Is there an app that is like good reader that will allow you to index your dropbox files. For example if I want to search for all docs that contain a certain word. (not just PDFs). It should be similar to how spotlight on the desktop works.
HiSay I create a document in Pages, how can i export this to drop box from my iPad? Or alternatively, is there a file browser that will allow me to see where these files are saved? I have got quick office as well and this can save straight to drop box but doesn't show any of the files I've saved in Pages in the file browser. I also have a file viewer from the App Store but this doesn't show those either.you.
