I'm getting a pop up that reads "could not connect to cellular data network" on my iPad 2. The problem is I'm not trying to connect to cellular data network. I have it turned off. I'm connected through wifi.

I have turned off and on again, reset network settings and still nothing. My software is up to date.

View 5 RepliesI've updated all my iPad software yesterday and my iPad will no longer connect using my Claro 3G card - I'm getting a message to say "could not activate cellular data network" even though the Claro signal strength is high and my little 3G icon is there at the top.

How do I turn the Cellular Data popup off? I don't subscribe to Verizon (iPad Designation), so don't appreciate the frequent notification that my iPad 2 can't make the connection. My "Settings/Cellular Data" is already set to Off. The goal, by having it set to off, is to prevent the IPad from using this function all the time. Anything to lessen the draw on the battery. Obviously this didn't work, so is there another way to stop the popup screen?

Upgraded to 4.3.5 and now have no cellular. Full bars, AT&T, 3G are showing. Wi-fi is OK but not cellular. Tried different suggestions from google search (Turn off/on, toggle airplane mode off/on, toggle roaming off/on, reset network settings, reset all settings)Called AT&T support and ran thru basically all the above again. They "re-registered" my data plan for the iPad, no success. AT&T even had me Erase all content and settings (basically back to out-of-the-box iPad) no change.iPhone upgraded to 4.3.5 and no problem with 3G, just iPad I think it is caused by 4.3.5 on iPad only.

View 1 RepliesWhen both Cellular Data (3G in my case) and Wireless are enabled and connected with full bars and full wifi strength, which interface does the device use to send/receive data? Is there a way (App) to tell which is being used and/or does it depend on the type of data (streaming netflix vs sending an email for example)?

First is my home network, second is my Cell Data.
So I received my air 2 wifi + cellular on Friday, but waited until today to activate cellular. Decided to go with T-Mobile because of their $10, 5GB for 5 months promo. Entered all my info and it said activating cellular. Then I recieved a popup saying "couldn't activate cellular data on network", however I recievend a email from T-Mobile saying everything went through and the plan is active. The iPad just says "Searching..." And has for about a hour. I tried resetting network settings and that did nothing. The cellular tab resembles that of a active cellular iPad (no set up cellular option, just enable/disable LTE, etc. )

Even though there is no problem in using Wi-Fi with my iPad 2 running on IOS 6 while travelling abroad, I can find certain issues with Cellular Data network. It is possible to connect my iPad with this network and sustain the connection. But, the e-mails do not get updated on iPad while using this network. I am not able to resolve this issue even after turning on and off cellular data. In what way can I use Cellular Data network properly?

I recently traded in my iPad 2 for the new model and decided to buy one with 4G capability for when I am out of a wi-fi area. Bought my Orange micro SIM, activated it and checked that cellular network settings were correct. My iPad works beautifully on wi-fi, but when I try to connect to Safari or my mail using Orange, I get an error message saying it cannot connect to cellular network, despite the fact that I have 3 or 4 bars showing. My iPhone connects to Orange with no problem.So far, I have reset network settings, double checked my cellular data settings and tried turning cellular network and the iPad off and on. Everything seems fine with the SIM.

I filled out the pertinent info in the settings> cellular data>view account to purchase the 2GB option. I received an email confirming my data plan purchase, but at virtually the same time I received the email I also got an error prompt "could not activate cellular data network"
View 2 RepliesMy microSIM has worked fine in my iPad 2 for a year. The iPad 2 was bought, subsidised, in the Orange Shop in March 2011. I got the new iPad on release date, full price from Apple Store. I put my microSIM from my iPad 2 in it, and got the error message "Could not activate cellular data network", even though it's showing "Orange" and 4 bars in the top left. If I turn the iPad off then on, it starts working, and will work fine for hours, then the problem starts again, forcing another reboot to fix it. I phoned Orange who confirmed it should work, and there's no problem with my account, and they can see my devices all connected to the masts. I did a full restore in iTunes of the new iPad, and set it up as a new iPad. This didn't fix it. Yesterday I took the new iPad back to the Apple Store and they swapped it for a new replacement one. Same problem.
