I plugged my iPad into my laptop to charge it overnight, but the iPad didn't charge. My laptop recognized it, and my iTunes synced it, but it wouldn't charge. It just said "Not Charging" next to the battery icon. How do I charge my iPad through USB?

I am experiencing a strange problem that just started today. The Wi-Fi strength meter which should display next to the iPad "title" text, is no longer there. This happens even though I HAVE Wi-Fi access (can surf no problem).

View 7 RepliesI haven't read about this, but my new ipad was stuck at 100% battery for hours. I used it to about 90%, and then connected to my computer to transfer a few videos. It said "not charging", but after about 5 minutes I unplugged it and was surprised that it said 100%. A few hours later I was confused as it still said 100. I tried restarting, even with sleep+home and nothing. Finally it dropped to 99, but it has been there for another hour.
View 4 RepliesI have a 332GB, 3G Ipad that I have been using for the past few weeks with no problems. My questions is why don't I see the Green Battery icon displayed when my unit is charging? It flashed on once when I first got it but I haven't seen it since. Is there a setting that needs to be adjusted? I do get the battery icon in the upper right corner of the screen when plugged into a wall outlet and my unit does seem to charge properly.

View 4 RepliesI just noticed that even the little battery icon in the top right does not show the 'lightning bolt' while charging. Instead, it displays a power plug. If i unplug and reinsert the charging cable the icon briefly changed back into the lightning bolt but then switches back to the plug. Why is this?

I plugged my ipad mini in this morning. The little red battery light came on showing it was basically empty - drained - I left it to charge for about 6 hours, came back to it, tried to turn it on and nothing -- I then thought it might be the charging cable, so I plugged that into my iphone 5 - and it charged the phone in a matter of 20 mins to 100% (so I'm sure it's not the cable). I then used the "toothpick" trick, and cleaned a bunch of "gunk" out of the charging port on the mini - plugged it back in, and NOTHING. It doesn't seem to be charging. My son (who primarily uses the mini for YouTube and Minecraft) had left the tablet paused on a youtube video when he left for school this morning --- would that have anything to do with the tablet not recharging? I tried "pinging" the tablet on the iphone finder app --- says it's not "connected to the internet" --- I tried plugging it into my pc, again, nothing.

My 'new' Ipad is connected to the wall using the included 10W adapter and it is fully charged. But it is displaying "not charging" and not the typical fully charged battery icon. From my understanding, IOS products use a tickle effect when charging "beyond" 100%, where the battery will charge and discharge. Which leads me to my question: My is my Ipad behaving like this?

I am having problems getting the new IPad to charge at all and sometime it displays this message.' charging not supported with this accessory'. This message is appearing occasionally on my 5 week old new iPad (3) within a few minutes of plugging it in.: (It is also not charging after this message appears. I am using the supplied wall socket and cable. I am also having problems getting the iPad to charge at all even if the message does not show. This is frustrating me no end. I expected a reliable device given the amount I paid.
I rang Apple support today (twice) and it made a liar of me working just fine for few minutes the first time then again failed, then for hour or so after the second call seemed to work just fine. Now it is not charging, and won't charge despite repeatedly unplugging and repluging, Switching off the iPad and turning it back on etc etc.

Anybody know if it matters or harms in anyway the iPad battery leaving it on charge? Maybe if your going to sleep or out for awhile and it only needs a short charge time, but it is hooked up much longer than it actually needs to be.

I have just bought my brand new iPad and as I was leaving the PC World store the tech guy told me that I should charge the unit for TEN HOURS before even turning it on.
I know this used to be common practice with batteries in years gone by but in this age of non-memory Lithium Ion batteries is it really necessary to do that?Did you all charge yours up for that period of time before getting stuck into it?
