Check Its Backup Has Backed Up My Photographs

May 25, 2012

I've had to buy a new laptop and now want to sync my iPad with it. I've followed some previous instructions on backing up with iTunes. The next step is to sync it which will wipe the iPad and to restore from backup. I'm very nervous about doing this - how do I know that the backup backed up my photographs - it didn't seem to take that long. Foolishly I don't have the photographs stored anywhere else and I don't want to lose them.

Info:iPad, iOS 5.1

How To Sync Photographs?

Aug 31, 2010

Patience is a virtue they say ... Well, mine are about spent.

I'm a photographer that wishes to use the iPad as a portfolio and have found serious issues with the current dev out for us to use. Without getting into a rant, I have a simple question:

I am receiving the following error message:

" Some of your photos, including the photo "XXXX.jpg", were not copied to the iPad "XXXX" because they cannot be displayed on your iPad."

Some images are fine and others are not; as a photographer I'm well aware of the size constraints but nothing I have tried works.. IE the images that fail are save in the same format as the ones that don't and are exact in size (1024x768, sRGB, 8bit) jpeg files or double 2048x1536 in size, I have tried 300ppi, 132ppi, 72ppi and nothing seems the phase this thing.

SideNote: I purchased IPAD STORE APP: PHOTO TRANSFER and it transfers the photos " PERFECTLY " *** Yes, even the ones that are " not viewable on the iPad, non-sense " but of course due to APPLEs limited DEV allowances, Photo Transfer can not place the images into separate albums and is forced to place all images into one album called SAVED IMAGES!! YUK!

DOES THIS REALLY NEED TO BE THIS DIFFICULT?

Copying Photographs From Windows ?

Jul 10, 2012

I have aquired my first IPAD (IPAD 1), this is my first experience of apple. I have used Windows for years and like the logical way I can organise my file with lots of sub folders for my photographs. I have over 12,000 photo's in many folders all named various ways and sorted the way I want them. I am able to sync these to my IPAD but it only goes to the first level folders, so all sub folders are put into one folder on the IPAD, not ideal for me. One of the things I cannot understand with Apple is why the files with pictures sorted say by a number are jumbled up on the IPAD in a different order. today I downloaded a file of 2000 photo's and except for the first phto they were all in the order I required, I then made a few changes to the Windows file and resynced, this time they came down on the IPAD quite differently! Same with alpha sorted files usually about 50 jumbled at the front , then the rest OK. I need my photo's in the same order on the IPAD as my Windows file. and to this extent I am very disappointed with the IPAD. Can anyone explain the logic (if any) to the way IPAD organised the transfers, I have check if by date, size of file etc but whatever way I organize the test files I cannot determine this.

Way To Delete Edited Photographs

Jun 13, 2012

I'm having real difficulty with using i-photo on the I-pad. For instance, I cannot delete a pic once I've edited it. It just sits there and there's no way of getting rid of it. I have worked out that to delete something on photo stream I have to do it through the MacBook but goodness know why. Is there an I-photo guide apart from the app that's an audio guide and drives me nuts?

Info:MacBook (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.4.7), Working also with iPad

Photo Transfer - Screen Saying No Photographs Or Videos?

Feb 10, 2012

I have just bought my first iPad and are having problems transferring photographs to it. I bought the camera connection kit for this task.I have inserted the S/D card reader to the iPad and inserted a card as per the very basic instructions and the ipad does not seem to read the card. All I have is the screen saying no photographs or videos. The same thing happens when I attach my camera via camera connector. Nothing at all happens.

IPad 2 :: How To Set Up New Folders In Photos / Then Cut And Paste Photographs There

Oct 9, 2011

When you get photos on your iPad2 via e-mail or through other means and save them, the iPad2 sends them to the "Camera Roll" folder (which seems to be the default folder). What if you want to cut a photo from Camera Roll and direct it to another folder? How do you: (a). set up the new folder and title it, and (b). cut a photo from Camera Roll and paste it to the newly-created/named folder?

General :: Deleting Photographs From Camera Roll

Dec 23, 2013

Took a whole load of photographs and they were saved in camera roll. I created a separate album called Brisbane 2012. After a period of time I purchased a physical photo album using these photos, so decided to remove them from the iPad to create storage space.

I deleted them from camera roll, but they are still in the other album (Brisbane 2012). I have tried to delete this collection of photos but cannot find a way to do it? I cannot see any method of deletion, either on the individual photos, or the complete album? Is this something to do with iCloud?

IPad 4 :: Loading Photographs By Using SHHC Memory Card

Apr 23, 2013

Had original problems loading photographs to the iPad4 to keep them in different folders, without deleting existing ones. Now I know how this works, by having a single folder with various folders in it.

My question is now regarding loading more photographs using an SHHC memory card with the connection kit. If I load additional photographs with the card, will that remove the existing folders on the iPad, or make new folders. Does it work the same way in that the card can contain several folders?

Backed Up - Start Redownloading

Aug 8, 2010

When I first got my iPad in early July, I noticed a dead pixel on it. It wasn't that noticable to me, so I didn't do anything about it. However, the other night, I decided to do a dead pixel test on my iPad, and noticed a total of six dead pixels. Made a Genius appointment, backed up my iPad, etc and went to the meeting. He gave me a refurb iPad and restored my old one. However, when I backed up my old iPad, I guess it must have gone over my head that it would only back up contacts and the like, because when I went to go restore the new iPad, it didn't restore music, videos, pictures or apps. At the time, that was fine, I could just redownload everything.Wrong! When I went to go everything from the app store and the iTunes store, it prompted me to verify my account info (secruity key on the credit card I used). I entered it, and it said it was wrong. It's not wrong; I tried entering it for another 5 minutes. After that, I tried EVERY card I own, and nothing worked

Where Are Data Files Backed Up

May 30, 2011

I got my iPad2 in early April and until today I haven't consciously backed it up (by right-clicking it in the iTunes devices and selecting "backup"). Although I got messages stating that it was backing up, I really can't confirm it as I have no idea where those files were backed up to on my Mac.I went to my user Library and into Application Support > MobileSync > Backup and there was a folder with this name:

348e763bbc0647d419f26d934c5592d43bfc662f

and it contained some 5,000 files, all of them with similarly cryptic names.I can only assume that these are the data files but I have no idea what any of them are.Am I correct in this assumption? How can I find a particular file among all these? Say, one of my epub books?

Keep Getting An Error Message That Says It Cannot Be Backed Up

Jun 10, 2012

I am a new ipad user so perhaps that may be the issue but I have tried to research the message I keep receiving when I try to back up my ipad to the icloud.

The message states " This ipad cannot be backed up because there is not enough icloud storage available."

It says at the bottom display 4.9 GB available of 5.0GB on icloud. When I go to Manage Storage and there is a list of all apps, etc listed I have turned almost all of them off and still I cannot back up to the icloud.

Info:iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular (VZ), iOS 5.1.1
