I am trying to set up an account on my iPad, but just can't seem to get it to work. I already have other accounts set up and they work fine.
I enter all the correct information for using IMAP, etc. Then it tells me it cannot get mail since the user name or password are incorrect. They ARE correct. I have this account set up on my MacBook with no issues using all the same information.
So, using all the same set up and credentials I set this account up on my iPod Touch with no issues last night and it worked just fine. Today it isn't working the same. It is keeps telling me Secure Connection Failed.
Any ideas out there to help me out.
Information: MacBook 2.0 GHz (Unibody) - iMac Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz - Mac Mini Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.5.6)
Recently I was advised by Microsoft to change the my password in my email account which is hotmail.co.uk. This I did and subsequently had to change the password on my IPad mail account in order to access mail on the IPad. Whilst I can download mail to my inbox I cannot now send emails. When I try to send I get the message " Cannot send Mail the user name or password for SMTP (email address)@URL... is incorrect. I have tried cancelling the account on my IPad and then setting up again with the new hotmail password but the status is the same. Mail can download but mail cannot be sent.
I am getting the above message for some reason. Things have been going along fine since I set the new iPad up. I had both exchange and the Gmail app getting mail and a few days ago turned off exchange mail since it just duplicated. Fine until this morning when I started getting this message.
I turned exchange email back on and my gmail shows up in that folder but not the Gmail. Any suggestions before I delete and redo the gmail one.
I get the message 'User Name or PW for @gmail.com' is incorrect on the iPad only. Laptop and desktop work perfectly. Same for my other email accounts, including Yahoo.I've logged in and out of gmail.com on both the iPad and laptop. Also, I went to the email pref on the iPad, turned it off, and back on, all to no avail.One thing I've changed is upgrade to Snow Leopard yesterday pm. But again, all of my other email accounts work as usual, and I can have access to gmail.com through the web site.
I have had this same issue on the iPhone for a few years and now have it on the iPad. I have setup my personal account and can successfully receive email. However, sending email is problematic as it always incurs the error:
Cannot Send Mail The user name or password for "SMTP:<my email address>@<ISP's SMTP server>" is incorrect.
The user name for my email account is my email address (email@example.com) and the SMTP server is of the normal form mail.isps_domainname.com.
The error message suggests that Apple's mail utility is joining the username with the SMTP address with the @ being the conjunction. If it is doing this, it is wrong as it is screwing up the user name. Is there anyway to stop the Mail utility from doing this?
I can't access my count in gmail. I restart because the told me that my name or password is wrong. I can't set up my gmail count again. So is it necessary configure the smtp? If yes, I cant access this option. The message that I have is: the user name or password for imap.gmail.com is incorrect.
We just bought a new ipad and it is working great but the mail application is not working. Everytime when I click on mail it gives me the message - the mail cannot be picked up - username or password is incorrect - When I click settings to change any of these settings...the mail menu closes down....
I very often get messages on my iPad that says the yahoo mail password is incorrect - and when I go to Settings sure enough that's correct - but I can reset it and go right back to settings and it is changed again - I have never had a password problem using yahoo mail in a browser.
I contacted Apple - they had me do a reset, but that has not fixed the problem.
I have two email accounts that I need to add to my Ipad.The first is a Gmail account which I had up and running in no time at all,quite easy to do actually. Unfortunately the same can't be said about my Lycos email account.I've tried several times to add my Lycos email account to my Ipad but with no success.I used the exact same method(Settings-Mail-Add Account)that I did when I added my Gmail account but like I said,no success.
I keep getting the same error message when I try to complete the process: "Cannot Get Mail-The username or password for pop.mail.lycos.com is incorrect."
This does not make any sense because I am entering the correct username and password. So having said all of that I was wondering if any other Lycos mail users out there have had the same problem in the past and how you fixed this problem? Or if anyone else knows how to rectify this issue? My Ipad is the 32g Wifi model.
I just bought a Ipad 3G 64Gb. In my home it can connect to my WPA wireless network fine. At job there is a WEP WiFi network wich I cant connect I'm sure the password is fine but always I get "Incorrect password" error. I tried with my laptop and Iphone 3G (IOS 4.1) with no problem, but with the brand new Ipad there is a issue I tried by looking information about this and it seems is a IOS bug
after about an hour still no email. i removed, synched, and put in manually all info. I called my ISP and they wouldn't help me. Says it's apples problem. I have even searched Google over the last week and i still can't figure out what's going on. Does anyone out there have a clue what the problem is?
In the past several days, every time I would try to open "Safari", I'd the Incorrect Wi-Fi Password (Cancel - Join) pop-up window. It shouldn't be doing this. Annoying. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.
I am trying to connect my iPad to my Wi-Fi at home, it used to work just fine. Now, when I try to connect and asks for password, I get a message saying "incorrect password". I've used this password in my other computers at home, but my iPad does not seem to get connected to it. Any suggestions besides reseting networks, etc.
I just purchased my ipad 2 and began the set-up. I chose the correct wi-fi network, but input an incorrect password. Now I am unable to move forward. If I choose that wi-fi network, it won't prompt the password again. It seems as though it took the incorrect password and it needs to be changed. If I select my network, there is a "thinking circle" and I can't move forward on the set-up. Is there a way to go back and change the password so I can finish my set-up?
I got the new iPad a few weeks ago and I have encountered a problem. Twice over the past week I have been notified that one of my apps has an update, but when I enter my password to log in it says my password is incorrect. I know I have entered the correct password. The 1st time this happened I ended up having to go through and change my password (this was just a couple of days ago). Today I was notified again that an app had an update and the same thing happened. I am entering my new correct password and I just keep getting the message saying that my password is incorrect. Has anyone had this problem?
I just got an iMac and I wanted to get iCloud so I could sync everything. I have a Microsoft exchange account as my work email. Now when I try to open my iPad it says Password Incorrect for the Exchange account "Exchange". I don't know what to do. I can't get past this error message to even get into my iPad.
my password keeps coming back incorrect, I have reset it 3 times now and it will not accept it on my iTunes to update on my phone or pad. It obviously is the right password since I was able to log in here...
Okay I have ONE sign in for Itune store on my PC Windows 7 Computer...it works every time...name and password.My ipad in settings under Itunes I have it set to my email address which matches my itune store PC information, however when I go to update the 12 apps that have not been updated for over a year I get a box that says
Sign in to Itunes Store, enter the apple id password under settings i have it set for firstname.lastname@example.org.I dont know what this email is, and none of the passwords I try will allow me to upload, or even sync with my PC
So I'm sitting here at the car dealer getting some service done and they have a sign indicating free wifi Internet service.
Nice. So I try to log on with the iPad...15 times. I think maybe I'm typing the password in wrong or they changed it so I try on the iPhone. Works the first time. I am still unable to connect...it says incorrect password.
Is this the wifi problem wveryones been talking about or am I missing something? Any suggestions?

I signed up for MobilMe when I received my iPad last Friday from Apple. I decided quickly that I did not want it so I canceled it after a couple of days, but not before I set it up to work with my iPhone and my iPad.
I removed the MobilMe account from both devices and my iPad is fine, but on my iPhone EVERY time I make a change to a contact or add a new one I get a message that "MobilMe Sync Failed - The password for the MobilMe user "xxxxx" is incorrect."
I can access my hotmail account fine on my laptop having recently changed my password due to one of the linked accounts on it being hacked. Now my IPAD 2 is blocked! On the screen when I switch it on is a blue box which states password incorrect enter the password for the Hotmail account "Hotmail" with the white box to enter the password and the options cancel or ok. I have entered the new and old passwords dozens of times and pressed okay. Also pressed cancel in an effort to remove the blue box to allow me to use the IPad without accessing hotmail but I cannot get past the blue sign in box.
I've set up my iCloud and iTunes accounts with no bother but I can't get my emails to work. I've entered all the details as instructed (and as I did before successfully on my iPad and iPhone) but I get a message saying my username or password is incorrect. It's most definitely not as I have checked and checked and checked. I have no problems accessing my mail over the website and my phone is still attached to the account, but my iPad will not accept my username and password! I've deleted and re-added the account countless times and saved the account and triple checked all the settings which are all completely correct
Does my email password have to be the same as my iTunes pass code? I have not been getting any incoming emails on iPad 2 and for whatever reason, my Apple Id had to be changed. I didn't prompt it, but iTunes kept coming back with incorrect password.
Suddenly, now when I download email I get a message that my iCloud username or password is incorrect. I've never used iCloud and have never created a username or password. How can I disable iCloud or fix this problem so I don't constantly get this error message?
