Cannot Get Mail - The Connection To The Server Failed
May 15, 2010
I tried to configure email on the new iPad. I have connection to the internet via wifi and can reach web mail. But however I try to configure email every time I got message that "Cannot Get Mail - the connection to the server "xxx" failed. I'm 100% sure that all information such a server, user name and password are correct because I'm using this account also in my MacBook.
Can somebody help me? Why I cannot configure mail in my iPad successfuly? Does it work with servers which I got from provider or it is necessary put something special?
This has been a pretty regular problem for me w/ my iPhone when I'm own my home WiFi: desktop and laptop connect to IMAP mail server(s) fine, but when iPhone tries to it gets theCannot Get MailThe connection to the server <mail server hostname> failed. Now I'm getting this without exception on my iPad. On the iPhone, I can get around it by switching to 3G, but not on this WiFi-only iPad.I've tried increasing the max connections per IP on the IMAP server in question, but that's had no effect. I've searched high and low on Google and other forums and there's TONS of threads on this/similar issues -- but no solutions.
Mail from our exchange server to the iPad 2 is working fine. When one of our users changed his AD password on his PC then he got an error on the iPad about "cannot get mail - connection to server failed". If we then change the password on his exchange setup screen on the iPad then the E-Mail works again, Is it normal?
I am trying to search my Gmail account from the iPad original email application. When I type the searh item into the earchbox and hit Enter, it shows the relevant downloaded/synced items and a link to "Continue to Search on Server". When i hit the "Contunue.." link I get notice "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed". In the meantime the search works fine from the G-Whizz! application...
Every time I go into my iPad mail I get the following pop up.
"Cannot get Mail" The connection to the server failed. I click on OK, which seems to be the only option.
I "think" I'm getting all my mail from all of the accounts I've got set up after going through this routine several times, but I'd like to know what needs to be changed to stop this incessant pop up and why it started in the first place.
I Have an iPad4.  When I try to open my email a message appears "cannot get mail.  Connection to the server failed".  But my spouse has a separate email account with the same setting on the shame iPad, and this is not affected.  I also use a laptop for email, and this receives email normally--I have not changed password or server details on either device recently .
I run an iPhone 4S and iPad2 - iOS 6.1.2. The iPhone has 2 gmail exchange accounts that work fine along side each other. I've been running a single exchange account on the iPad and an IMAP setup for the other account but decided I wanted to add push email and so added the same 2nd exchange account as on the iPhone but I get an error saying:
"Cannot Get Mail, The connection to the server failed".
On setup of the new exchange mail on the iPad I get all the ticks and I know the credentials are the same on both devices yet the iPad fails, the iPhone has been working a couple of weeks with no issues.
l am using my ipad and for some reason my mail won't connect to server. Yesterday it was saying the details for imap were incorrect, then my password. l have opened another acc with same email and password, it seems now my only issue is the not connecting to server.
I have 4 email accounts on the iPad - one exchange account, 2 gmails, one university account (outlook based). All work fine from home.Today at work I had a great wifi connection, but the exchange account was pretty much frozen. The most recent message all day was from right before I left home. I tried fiddling with the settings- I added stmp.gmail.com for outgoing mail, but that didn't help. i tried setting it up as a new account, but " Verify" repeatedly failed. i ended up somehow deleting all the messages. So, I deleted the account. then I set it back up from home and it worked fine
I just bought an iPad the other day I cannot figutre out how to send any emails. I set up my aol email account and when I go to send an email it says, " Cannot send mail, connection to the outgoing server failed "Information: Windows XP.
We are running Exchange 2003 and some inboxes keep clearing out and have to reload all the emails based on the setting. This has happened several times on certain iPADs and on multiple ones at the same time.
While the iPAD is on, it throws up an error message that says "Connection to Server failed" and then clears out. This is while connected via WiFi on our local network in the office. This has happened in multiple locations in our company.
Any ideas? I've seen other people have had this problem and the only common item is Exchange 2003.
I have had my iPad since Christmas when I got it from my son. My email worked just fine but now I receive a message saying "The connection to the server failed". I called the Bell. The rep. went over the settings with me and said they'd were fine and that I should take it back to the store. Then while reading the forum I saw the same question and answer.
The advice given was to delete the settings . Does this mean I take out all the SMTP etc. and then put the information back in. I know I haven't got this right.
Just tried sending an email from my gmail acct and received the error "Connection to the outgoing server smtp.gmail.com failed. I can receive mails fine. I'm connected to wifi which is provided by sky. how I can get my iPad to send mails?
All of the sudden IPad won't get wifi, gives message "The connnection to the server mail.me.com failed". Wifi is working fine in my house. Worse, the message repeats over and over so I can't even read the mail that's there. It sort of disables the mail program entirely.
My email has been working fine on both devices until last night. Now both say "Cannot get email. connection to server failed. " Weird that it's on both. I've tried shut down and restart to no avail.I'm now thinking this has something to do with my ISP and mail provider and not the devices.
I am a new iPad owner and I am very frustrated. I keep getting a verification failure or cannot find server. I have rebooted the router and the iPad but I cannot seem to fix the issue. I am also trying to set up Mobile Me.
"Verification Failed" Could not communicate with the server.†I get this message every time I go to Icloud in setting menu. Also my contact are not in sync (empty on Ipad). What does this message mean, and how do I solve it.
Everything else works (Autodesk Draw also works with Icloud and it works fine) Mail ok Downloading from appstore ok (also after password) I can't get my contacts on my new ipad.
My me.com account has stopped downloading emails, 'failed to connect to server'. I can send emails but not receive. I haven't changed any or touched any settings. Yet when I look in iCloud from the iMac I can see and read the emails there?
after updating to 5.1.1 I can no longer connect with my home wifi/wlan. It works with all other devices that we have - except with the iPad 3 I allways get the error message "connection to wlan failed".†Router ist DLINK DIR300 Router and iPad have been rebooted†
I combed through the forum to see if anyone else has reported this issue. WOW, I was surprised at the wide range of general Wifi problems. Although many, many wifi issues are listed, I did not find a post already listing one.
My Wifi seems to work great on first glance, but when using the iPad for more than 5 minutes the issue becomes noticeable. This occurs while doing pretty much anything. I notice it the most when web surfing and reading books in iBooks. The wifi signal indicator in the status bar drops off to nothing, usually just for 10 seconds or so, then it reconnects. Sometimes it takes longer and at which time a little blue dialog box appears that says "Connecting..." Then it connects and life goes on. Rince and repeat 5-10 minutes later.
Now, I have a feeling it might be something with my Airport Base Station Extreme (ABSE) and here is why: My wife also has an iPad, and the same thing happens to her. It's not an extremely old ABSE, as it is "Extreme" running 7.4.2. I have tried several different settings on the ABSE including reverting to default settings and simply setting it up again with the most basic settings.
So, I am unsure if this problem is caused by the iPad or the ABSE, but either way, it is annoying. Was just wondering if others had experienced this and how they may have solved it. Judging by the wide range of serious wifi issues listed on this forum, it seems to be that Apple has some serious work to do on Wifi in general and maybe all these issues will be resolved in an update.
