Can Connect To Router But Not Ad Hoc Network?

Oct 18, 2010

My brand new ipad on ios 3.2.2 connects fine to my router and my jailbroken iphone running Mywi. However, I cant connect to an ad hoc network set up on my laptop running vista. My iphone connects to the ad hoc without any problems. I've tried everything, static ips, wep, wpa, hard resets, restoring, resetting network settings but no go. How can' everything else be fine but not connecting to the ad hoc network, especially since it works fine to connect with the iphone?

Btw, the ad hoc is for controlling music software on the laptop through wifi. It's not for getting internet.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Unable To Access Network/can Connect To The Router Without Problems?

Aug 21, 2010

I'm having trouble connecting to my wireless network at home (wpa2 personal with AES encryption). I've tested it a million times and have yet to connect with a secure setting. However,

I can connect to the router without problems when the network is unsecure, as well as other public wifi networks. Any advice? I have no idea what to do now.

New Router - Recognize Network

Apr 13, 2010

Just thought I'd check and see if, for those of you who bought a new router, if that solved your connection problem. My iPad recognizes the network, but says it is unable to connect. I've tried changing multiple settings on the router, to no avail.

Unable To Connect To Network/can't Even Connect To My Home Network?

Jun 28, 2010

Title says it all, bought a 64gig iPad wifi today...little did i know tons of users are having wifi problems...my problem doesnt seem to fit the others though. Most of what i've read people can connect for a bit,

and after being in sleep mode then it has problems. I can't even connect to my home network. Works fine with my ipod Touch, laptop, etc. I dont have any form of security set up on my router what so ever. I plan on buying a new router soon (for reasons other than this iPad crap.)

I'd really like to see some kind of resolution to this problem before i need to do that though.I tried all that i could out of the trouble shooting stuff. nothing worked. I even tried setting up a static IP for it. What else can be done? i really dont want to have to return it since its such a nice piece of tech.

Network Locations - Router Brands

Apr 16, 2010

Talked to an Apple Tech about my Wifi issues and got a case number. Here is what was said:1.They hear these issues a lot2.First suggestion was to turn off WiFi, and power down and reboot, then try again. I had already done this more than once, it didn't help.3.We talked about router brands, but that didn't seem a big factor. Based on his comments it sounds like they see more problems with secure networks than with open ones, but that's just my reading between the lines. My issue is with open networks that are not close at hand (in distance).4.Next suggestion was to try a few other open network locations. I had done this and McDonalds and a local credit union worked ok. However at my friends house, which is linksys based, it either fails to see the network or connects for only a few seconds at a time.

Disconnect From Network When Sit 4 Feet Away From Router?

Aug 6, 2010

My iPad repeatedly disconnects from the wireless network even when I am sitting 4 feet from my router. Each time, we have to retype the network password to get back on. The folks at the Apple store tell me that my iPad is fine and it is the fault of Verizon. Is anyone familiar with this issue?

Slow Download Speeds - Network Router

Jun 9, 2010

I know this has been posted before, but did not see any fixes. My iPad gets about 3 to 4 mbps download speeds, where my Macbook Air, Lenovo T400 get 15 to 20 mbps on the exact same home network/router. I have also tried another router with similar experience.I called Apple Support and they said to do a back and restore, which I just did. That did not fix anything.

Unable To Join The Network - Change Router

Apr 12, 2010

Unlike some of you who at least get weak signals, I get the "unable to join the network ....." message whenever I try to connect to my home wi-fi. I have tried the iPad at our local library, and the internet connection there worked just fine.I'm router ignorant--I'm on Verizon DSL, have a Westell VersaLink Model 327W router, 802.11g. Can anyone out there tell me how to change my router settings (and which ones I should be changing) to get the iPad to be able to join the network? The network is open, if that makes a difference.

Router Problem-I Try To Type In The Network Key But It Tells Me Incorrect

Apr 7, 2010

My security mode on my work router is WPA2-Personal, and when I try to type in the network key for my IPAD it tells me that it is incorrect, so I browse through the message boards and I noticed to try to change my router to WEP, however I can not does this becauese it is at my work site and I do not have the authority to do so, also I read on one of the boards to change the network mode to N, mine is set on B/G/N mixed, again I do not have the authority to change this. Does anyone have any idea's? Or, am I just not going to be able to use this at my work?

Unable To Connect With Secure Network/my MacBook It Was A Number We Got In The Network Panel?

May 22, 2010

I don't know the proper lingo, being network illiterate, but I'm at at retreat where there is an ultra secure wireless signal set up where you can't just get the signal and enter the password, the host has to actually go in and manually add individual computer ID info in order to allow access --

for my macBook it was a number we got in the Network panel, under Ethernet # or something like that?THere doesn't seem to be an equivalent for the iPad that I can find. Sorry for the vagueness, but can anyone point me in a likely direction?

Unable To Connect Wi-fi Network/network Ask For A Code?

Sep 22, 2010

In the lobby of a motel with wi-fi network. The instructions was that upon initial connection the network would ask for a code which was to be entered. I went to setting, selected wi-fi and the name of the network it found. The Ipad brought up a new page containing a sign-in form.

When I selected the entry block to start the typing of the code the keyboard came up but then the key board went away before I could enter a letter. I tried it several times.Getting faster I was able to enter 4 of the letters. But the numbers were impossible because it took two actions on the keyboard to get a number.

Need To Connect With Router

May 31, 2010

I have decided that the router has a fault and it is time to replace. I would appreciate help in choosing a new router, as i am not tech savvy in that way.I have iphone, imac, PC, apple TV, PS3, and Wii that i use wireless for. I now also have my iPad. So i want it to be proven success with iPad as i know some people have had wireless issues with some routers. It has been suggested to me that the Draytek Vigor 2820n Wireless router is the way to go, as it has a very strong signal, and i have an old house with lots of stone walls. I want to use my equipment all around my house and in the garden area too.

Won't Connect To Home Router

Sep 30, 2010

My ipad works on wifi elsewhere, but at home it wont.It can see the network.I've input the mac address to the router
When Wep is on the ipad shows a padlock and when I tell the ipad its wep, it asks me for a password. I input the wep key(many times, checking carefully) but it says wrong password. When I disable security on the router, the padlock disappears from the ipad but it still wont connect. If I click on the arrow of the network a page comes up with all sorts of stuff about IP Address (DHCP BootP Static) and HTTP Proxy (off Manual auto)

Need To Connect With Wireless Router

May 11, 2010

I'm an old PC user and broke down & got an iPad.I can join it to my home network but now need to figure out where to enter the 10 digit number off the bottom of the router. On the laptop, it goes in the block Wireless Security Password (Encryption Key). Dont' really want to go into the router and change it away from a WEP data encryption, too much stuff on the laptop to do that.
