Can't Sync MP4 - Itunes Says That These Files Can't Be Played
Feb 9, 2012
I have a strange problem. I have A Go Pro HD Hero wich makes MP4 movies. These I can sync to my Ipad2 no problem. However I also have the new Go Pro HD Hero2 which makes the same mp4's but these I can't sync. Itunes says that these files can't be played on the Ipad. The settings on botch camera's are the same 1280*720 @ 59 frames p/s.
My iPod is 27.84 GB, so besides compressing my songs, I only sync a subset of my media. So I got the largest iPad I could get, and sync all of my media.I have a song and a video that tell me:"Fan video - Terminus Est by Per Maim" was not copied to the iPad "Howard Brazee's iPad" because it cannotbe played on this iPad.I don't want to click to not show me again - because I want to know when I have other problems. But I don't want synchronization to stop either. This .mp4 plays fine on my Mac's iTunes. So - my first goal is to get that video playable. If that is impossible, I want to not delay my synchronization, but have the ability to find out which songs and videos aren't getting synchronized.Home workgroup
While iTunes is nice to sync music, videos, apps, etc...I'm not keen on using it for transferring files like PDFs, Word Documents, Photos, etc... to and from my iPad.For those of you that have Jailbroken your iPads what methods do you use, other than iTunes to transfer files to and from your iPad? I wish there was an adapter for the iPad that simply allowed you to plug in a USB Flash drive and then a file explorer app that let you copy or paste any file back and forth. Anything like this coming down the pike?
How do I sync Ipad 2 with a MS pc (both ways) without Itunes. I cant install Itunes, Dropbox or Goodreader because of company policy, but I need to sync files between Ipad 2 and my work pc.The best solution has been to make Ipad 2 appear as an external harddrive through USB connection. As the Ipad is company asset, a jailbreak is not an option.
While synching my iPad I noticed that I was missing an ep of a tv show; it was on the home pc, but not the iPad. Having never movied anything from pc to iPad, I watched the tutorial, which said select tab, select item, click apply, then sync. Itunes promptly erased ALL my videos, then plopped the missing file on the iPad, and inexplicably wiped all my books and music as well. Now I get the joy of adding all my files back onto the iPad.I've re-watched the tutorial and I followed the instructions exactly. There seems to be no procedure for individual single files from pc to iPad; you have to erase everything, then copy everything back over. Which is nuts. So first a declaration, then a question.
I just bought an iPAD 4th Gen for "family use". Purchased some games for the kids, plus some previously purchased with the wife's iPhone. I've put a limit on the number of games they can have on the iPAD at anyone time, so of course they've been merrily deleting and re-installing (i.e. re-downloading) games through the iPAD Apps store directly.
Having just fallen off my chair seeing the dramatic increase in internet data usage on my ISP account, and realizing that many of these purchased games are 1-2 GB each, it's clear I need to introduce some further means of control. Enabling restrictions on installing and deleting apps is one....much as they won't like it.
I've now got iTunes sync and backup working properly on my Windows (XP Pro) PC (had some device recognition/firewall issues), and done the PC authorization thing. So, I've synced and backed-up the iPAD a number of times so far, and looking at the iPAD Apps view in the iTunes screen, I see the list of all purchased apps and whether they are installed or not.
My question is - when apps are re-installed through iTunes sync, are they downloaded from the store all over again, or are they physically saved and retrievable from a library on the host PC, assuming they were actually installed on the iPAD when a backup was made? If they are not, is there any other way to save and restore apps to and from a PC (other than a full backup restore) to avoid having to re-download?
I recently purchased an iPad and have been playing around with it. I've noticed that the YouTube app doesn't always return all the search results that I know are available. Namely, I can't seem to find any music videos. I've even tried doing a search on my laptop for a music video, then do the same search in the YT app, and nothing. I even went as far as sending myself the link to the video, then accessing the link through Safari, but even that won't play it. Is there some kind of censorship going on that doesn't allow certain videos to be played?
Im torn as what to buy...Wife wanted tetris so i got it for her and now im trying to figure out which game is worth it for me?...I was thinking the Real Racing HD looked cool but i never played it on iphone....
When I drop a JPG or PNG from explorer onto my iPad in iTunes, it reports:"filename.jpg" was not copied to the iPad "..." because it cannot be played on this iPadI have tried different images ranging in size from 100x100 to 3000x3000 jpg's as well as png files. Nothing works.
I got an IPad, but I have a huge problem. I have a website, which contains some quictime stream video. but IPad cannot play them at all. Movies have a black screen, in the middle there is a paly button which is crossed out.
Is there anyway to get itunes to sync on itunes load.. but not open itunes everytime the iphone is plugged in?
what i have is a program that opens itunes once a file is converted to an mp4 and added to itunes. so i want it to sync on itunes open but i dont want it to load itunes automatically and sync once the ipad/iphone is plugged in
(i have an htpc, it kind of annoying when itunes pops up.. i have the itunes loading on a scheduled task at 3AM when im not loading the machine.
I have a movie that I ripped a long time ago to play on my AppleTV but since I still haven't gotten around to watching it I'm going to put the movie on my iPad.In iTunes, I drag the movie onto the iPad to copy it (I am manually managing) and I get this error:"movie was not copied to the iPad name because it cannot be played on this iPad."So I select the movie and from iTunes' Advanced menu I choose "Make an iPod/Apple TV version" and I get the error:"One or more videos were not converted because they are already in the correct format."
I recently bought a movie in the iTunes Store on my iPad - all went well and could be played on the iPad. Later I synced with my iMac and the itunes Library. Sync worked, but I cant watch the movie on the iMac - it is shown in the list and can be started, but no sound and only a grey display of the size of the movie. Any ideas?
I have created an iMovie project. Every time I export it and try to load the movie onto my iPad, I get an iTune error saying the movie can not be played on my iPad and therefore was not copied. I tried to export using .mov and .mpeg formats and tried loading on my iPad via Movies and iPhoto. Neither won't copy. But, when exported movie is in iTunes, I can play the movie via shared library with ZERO issues.
I synced my ipad and my iphone3G S with my MacBook Pro, everything else is fine apart from you can't watch any youtube videos on the ipad when the ipad connects to the wifi network. however, you can watch the youtube videos when the ipad connects to the 3G net work; i haven't changed any sittings at all. For my iphone3G S it simply does't play any youtube videos at all. Does anyone know what the problem is and please help me!!! When they both don't play the youtube video the error message is "This movie could not be played."
The saga continues for me to get a dvd playable on my iPad.Last night I ripped 'Into the Wild' to a mp4 format. It worked, I now have the entire movie (sans all the other junk) in mp4 format. I imported it into iTunes and went to sync my iPad and i got the following notice upon completion of sync:'The movie Into_The_Wild was not synced as it cannot be played on this iPad'
After watching a TV show on the iPad, and allowing it to complete and return to the iPod app screen, then syncing to iTunes, the last played date in iTunes is not updated. It is when I do the same thing on either my old video iPod or my iPod Touch. It does work properly for music files - just not TV shows (haven't checked movies or podcasts
Can't figure out why some of my scanned jpeg photos can be imported into my iPad through iTunes and others can't. the message I get is "holiday.jpeg was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."
If there is a way to tell a played movie from an unplayed/partially played movie on the iPad 2? On the iPhone for example, there is a blue circle next to the movie but I didn't see anything on the iPad?
I cant seem to figure out how to get about half of my videos on my iPad. I have a number of videos all saved in iTunes at approximately the same resolution. The only difference I can see is the ones that won't sync to my iPad are MP4 files instead of M4V.
I have tried changing the extension, and that didn't fix the problem.
I have tried changing the extension, renaming it, and then putting it back into iTunes, still didn't fix the problem.
I ran it through Handbreak and it fixed the problem. Both files show up under Get Info as H264 at about the same data rate, yet only the new one will go on my iPad.
I am attaching two images from the Quicktime Inspector for each file. Can anyone explain a quicker way to make these files work than running them all through Handbreak?
