Play With The Note Taking App Mental Note

Jun 15, 2010

I've had a chance now to play with the note taking app Mental Note and I highly recommend it! I used it to brainstorm ideas about my new website and it worked perfectly. A stylus is needed to really make it work well, but I think the same can be said about all the note taking apps out there.

Best App For Note Taking

Jun 3, 2010

1. With note taking, I saw many apps save them as PDFs. If I use any of the iWork apps will any of the documents I make with any of the iWork apps transfer over to my PC so I could print?2. Any suggestions on best app for note taking that can be transfered to my PC.3. Not sure which iPad to purchase. Would 3G be worth it if I am usually at school when using it? Having it there as a backup just in case would be nice. Need that push in deciding.4. Any knowledge of school books that can be purchased over iBooks yet or any other similar app? If I get my school books as PDF which app is best for viewing?

Best Note Taking App For

Apr 19, 2010

I take a ton of notes. And I am a big fan of Microsoft Onenote for ability to write text, draw with ink, include pictures, audio, etc.

Looking for a solution that rivals One note. Ideally would import my existing one note notes.

Would like the ability to:
* write text, draw, include photos, audio.
* have multiple folders/notebooks however you term it
* search across notes, sections, folders, etc
* option of sharing notes
* sync possibly - either with a client on laptop or with one note

Right now I am looking at School Notes Pro, mobilenoter, and Evernote.

Tried evernote when first came available with iPhone. I know it got a lot better, but would love to hear from someone using now on iPad how easy it is for my requirements above. Also, I am a bit nervous on the security/privacy front.

Mobilenoter just seems to be a couple steps back on some of the capabilities, but I like the onenote sync feature.

Any other suggestions?

Best Note Taking Pen For IPad 2?

Got my sis an iPad 2 she can take to classes and now I want to get her a pen that she can write with so she doesn't have to take books and paper. Any pens out there that write on the iPad as if you're writing on real paper? Also, what are the best apps that would allow her to do this?

Note Taking With A Stylus?

Mar 26, 2011

I'll be completely honest when the ipad first came out, to me it seemed like another unnecessary gadget for people to waste money on. However, after playing with them at the store, they've grown on me a tiny bit. I'm a mechanical engineering student going into my junior year. I have an absurd amount to huge textbooks and 3- 5 subject notebooks for each class, which is a huge pain in the ass to lug around. how would a ipad work out for me as a student? I could get all of the e-text books and have instant access to them on the ipad. Have access to the lecture notes in class either by going online or saving them as pdf files. The most important feature would be my ability to take notes on it. I would be using a stylus, since my notes generally aren't text, instead either diagrams or equations. How efficient would this be, since these things are relatively expensive?

Looking For A Good Note Taking App?

Jun 26, 2012

I've read that the Notes app with Mountain Lion will be available for OS X as well, and I was wondering if there will be any significant updates to the Notes app coming in iOS 6?

The Notes app in Mountain Lion supports, as far as I know, text formatting, images and attachments. The Notes app in iOS 5 does not have any of these features, yet still it is claimed that the OS X client will sync with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This means that there must be some rather significant updates coming for the Notes app in iOS 6 to match up with the features of its Mac counterpart. Still, no updates to the Notes app are listed in any of the iOS 6 feature lists I've seen so far.

I'm looking for a good note taking app for OS X and iOS. I don't like how Springpad works, neither did Evernote work out for me, it's just too complex - I like Simplenote a lot though, it's just that its approach is too radical in my opinion. I was thinking that the Mountain Lion Notes app might be a good alternative because it combines simplicity with rich text formatting and attachments. I kind of hate the skeuomorphic user interface though.

Note Taking And Referencing In The Ebook?

Sep 4, 2010

I am in consideration to purchasing an iPad but was wondering if anyone can shed some light on my concern. I work and am going to school so I do a lot of reading/writing and business plans. A lot of the reading I do now needs highlighting, note taking, referencing, etc so that I can notes/documents of all the info from various books. Is there an option/app that I can do all the note taking/referencing directly in the ebook on the iPad then have it transfered/synced on to a PC/Mac?

Unable To Find Best Note Taking App

Jun 24, 2010

My iPad is arriving today finally and I will be shortly looking for some form of note taking and rganisation app and was hoping for some recommendations. My iPad is partly going to replace my notebook where I jot down information from the various business meetings/conference calls I attend. The notes are generally fairly brief - names, dates, key focus areas - that sort of thing.a t the moment obviously the note book is simply a linear stream of information - what I would like to do is group the notes/pages by project/discussion topic/actions arising so on a long term project I can see all the notes related to that project and not have to search through a linear list.I would like also to be able to back up the information for safety purposes.

What I don't need is a desktop solution as I can not sync my iPad with my work computer.I could in theory just use Notes and title each note appropriately but I am looking for something a little more ophisticated.

I am not looking for a free solution so happy to invest in this as a key business tool. As an aside I will be buying iWork and some of the Omni product suite.

IBooks And Note Taking While Reading Pdf

Sep 22, 2010

Since PDFs are different from ePub, I was wondering if there was a way to take notes with my PDF files. I'd love to highlight and add small text notes to my PDF files in iBooks but there seems to be no way to do that. It'd also be great to underline/highlight by swiping my finger across the text just like on real paper, as opposed to double-tapping and then dragging on of the edge sliders. Is this possible at all? If not in iBooks, is it doable in a third-party app? I think iBooks is almost a perfect replacement for actually printing out these PDFs but as of now it doesn't replace everything I need when it comes to PDFs (ePub files are darn close, though), as far as I know.

Limitations Of Note Taking Apps

Mar 16, 2012

So I did a search of the forums, and there are a ton of different threads about note taking apps available on the App Store. url...My question that is unanswered in all of these threads is: Why is it that even on the best note taking app (whatever that may be), I can't take "good" notes like I can on a notepad tablet. I use Penultimate, and the app works exactly as advertised. No problems! BUT... The experience of taking notes on the iPad is what I would consider subpar. The reason is I feel like I'm constantly constrained when it comes to space, if that makes sense. Can anyone relate? Is this due to the iPad's screen resolution? I would think that with the retina display, this issue would be substantially improved.
