I tried to search and find, but what does the ipad actually back up. I assume it doesn't duplicate photos, videos etc -- docs that are already on the mac. What does it back up and how much space does it take up since i can't find the backup file. View 2 RepliesI have pre-ordered the 3G I-pad. I was very close to ordering a new macbook when news of the ipad hit so I sat on the sidelines and opted for the ipad. Wanted somethig to read news on the couch with the family and this seemed right up my alley.One question though...I have a bunch of files on a shared drive here at the house Will I be able to view these files and/or save to that folder from the ipad.
I'm thinking not but would love confirmation either way before the order is official.
Is there anyway to hook up an external hard drive to the iPad?are there any programs which allow working in layers on images?

View 2 RepliesWhile at coffee house, using gmail in Safarai on iPad, got dialogue box saying google needs an additional 5 MB space to store my mail acct as a local database. I shutdown iPad.
At home, restarted. Safari was locked in gmail with dialogue box frozen. Tried to sync, update and restore to reset, but Safari still locked. iPad will not back-up, restore or sync. What is best next step ?

View 2 RepliesDoes anybody know how I can reset the country location for the Apps store on iPad? I have several iTunes accounts for the different countries that I spend long assignments in. Whilst overseas, after opening the App Store application on my iPad, I inadvertently logged into a non-US iTunes account and got the error message "Cannot connect to the App Store. The App store is not supported in this country". The App Store application quits immediately after that.I have tried going to Settings and in the App Store settings, signed out of that account with the view to signing into my US iTunes account.

View 1 RepliesAfter spending a considerable amount of time creating folders and moving icons into them, etc., (on the iPad) I synced (wi-fi) to my computer. When finished, everything was back to its original place--no folders, original locations. I've done this same thing on my iPod Touch with no problem, so I'm baffled, although just getting used to my new iPad2. What did I do wrong--and how do I avoid having this happen again? (I know I can move and create through iTunes, too, but shouldn't I be able to do it on the iPad, too?)

I need to type addresses such as 1255 23rd Avenue, but when I press the space bar between the street number and street name, it goes back to alpha and I have to press ?123 again to continue with numeric. Is there anyway to keep the numeric keyboard as numeric until I press the ABC key?

I recently dropped my when it slid off my lap. Luckily, it was only a span of two feet or so. Unluckily, it landed on the power button. Now the power button is stuck and won't respond to any clicking. I am still able to activate the from the Home Button but I can't manually shut it off or put it sleep. I am unable to send it back to Apple due to my location. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to unstuck the power button?

I got my Hard Candy iPad Hard Sleeve a couple of days back and thought of posting my impressions on it.I was looking for a sleeve which I can put inside a bag or a suitcase along with other travel items like laptop, camera, chargers, etc. When I saw this Hard sleeve on Hard Candy's website, I was totally convinced.The outside of the sleeve is made of EVA-Foam which is quite rigid. It is more like very thick cardboard. Added to this, the inside of the front side has a layer of hard foam which sticks out in the shape of small squares. This inside layer would basically rest against the iPad's glass top. The rest of the inner surface (top and bottom) is covered by neoprene. The best part of this sleeve is the four rubber bumpers which can be stuck to the bottom corners. These stick via a layer of velcro and can be repositioned if needed.

View 1 RepliesI have a 64GB 3g iPad. According to my iPad, I have 23.3GB free. I am trying to download a HD season of a show, which judging from previous seasons should be in the 7 GB range.
When I go to download it, I get the following error message: "There is not enough space to download this item. Please delete some photos or videos"
It'll be a few days before I can sync with my PC and delete some things, but any reason why I get this error when I have 3x the room required?
I just noticed when I randomly check my free space on my 1st gen iPad mini my mails are taking up about 200MB and this is the first time it happened to me unlike before it dont really take as much space it takes right now. My mails is almost 10,000 and its almost random mails from my newsletter subs and social networks like twitter and facebook. I really cant find time deleting them. I'm almost running out of memory on my mini.
View 1 RepliesI've just unpacked my iPad and connected it to my PC. As soon as I do this, all of my external drives connected to USB ports go off line. If I power down the USB connected drives and then power them on again, Windows reports the devices are not recognized.If I power everything down, disconnect the iPad and then turn my USB connected drives back on, they work fine. Connect the iPad again, and then USB drives once again become disconnected.
