Are All Standard VGA Projectors Compatibile

Jun 24, 2010

I teach at a university using Panasonic PT-F300U projectors. I want to know if the iPad (with adapter) is compatible with this projector before purchasing an iPad.

Is there a list of compatible (or incompatible) projectors?

Charge Using A Standard Apple USB Cable / Standard IPhone App Like Calculator / Voice Recorder

Aug 4, 2010

First of all, i love this forum!

i got the 16GB wifi ipad running 3.2.1 and i'm already jailbroken

1) I know there are differences between chargers but shouldnt i be able to charge using a standard Apple USB cable attached to the computer? I also tried a standard Apple iPhone charger and it also won't charge. I also tried a generic iphone AC charger and that too won't charge the iPad. . .

2) Where are all the standard iPhone apps like Calculator, Voice Recorder, etc.? does this thing even have a mic?

3) Where are all the popular apps for iPhone like Facebook, Slacker Radio etc.?? i realize some apps are only for iPhone and CAN be run on the iPad, but did they really NOT make a Facebook app specifically for the iPad??

P.S. after writing this thread, my iPad battery went up 1% while plugged into the computer. It still says 'Not Charging' though. Does this just mean it's not charging to it's full potential?

Should Touch Devices Use Standard OS's?

Jan 29, 2010

I see many posts from people disappointed that the iPad does not run a full or cut down version of OSX and is therefore not a full blown Laptop replacement.

I owned a HP TouchSmart TX2 laptop for a number of months as the idea of a touch capable device really appealed to me. How ever it didn't take me long to hate the damn thing.

1) It was heavy.
2) It's battery life was terrible.
3) The standard OS (Vista) wasn't sophisticated enough to deal with touch input.
4) HP touch designed software was not as good as freeware software. (TouchSmart Software v Windows Media Player)

After a few days of trying the stylus and the finger touch input, writing notes that could not be translated with 100% accuracy to Text, sketching some drawings, swiping thu some photo's and movies the novelty wore off really quickly, and soon I looked at how I was using the device and realized that I found it better and easier to use the keyboard and mouse. Touch actually slowed me down.

The device was sold and I brought a MacBook to replace it.

To me, current Win7 or OSx operating systems would be laborious to use with a touch only input and I think that any hardware company who releases a touch device using a standard OS will struggle to sell to the general public.

Geeks like you and I maybe tempted, but I think the only way forward for touch devices is with specially designed cut down OS's like the iPad and maybe Andriod when it's released. Designed from the ground up with it's Touch experience first on the drawing board.

HD Vs. Standard Downloads From ITunes

I'm sure I've seen this before but can't find the thread -- does it really make that much difference downloading a regular def versus a high def movie from iTunes in terms of viewing crispness on an iPad 1?

How Does IWork For Work? - Standard Features

Jul 15, 2010

It's been a while now and how does iWork for iPad work?Is it fine to create documents with (in combination with a keyboard?) or keynotes or presentations?1) Can you create documents with it just fine? Does it support like most of the standard features you would also find on a computer?2) What about spreadsheets or presentations? I don't expect it to have just as many possibilities as on a computer, but again, does it support most standard features?

How To Download Tv Shows Of Standard Definition?

Jul 13, 2010

How do I download the standard definition version of a TV onto my iPad from iTunes? I've purchased several shows in the HD version. iTunes downloads both the standard def file and HD file. All I see is the HD version in iTunes, even though both files have been downloaded to my computer. I'd like to download some files in standard def so that I can fit more shows onto my iPad.

AirPlay A Standard Browser Session

Oct 21, 2011

Does anyone know if a standard "browser" session (I.e. just navigation and link clicking rather than running video) can be had via AirPlay iOS 5/IOS4.4 (appletv) is possible?

I understand that a raft of "AirPlay-enabled" apps is now hitting AppStore but I understood that ANYTHING displayed on the iPad 2 could be (mirrored) via AirPlay provided that iPad 2 runs IOS 5 and AppleTV runs IOS 4.4. Is this the case?

I have tried WebOut and Switch (both apps purport to be AirPlay-enabled) but they are not playing ball!!

Anyone know of any other "real" AirPlay-enabled browsers

How To Use Standard Fixing Points To Set In Aluminum Back?

Jun 18, 2010

Might it have been a good/interesting idea, and opened up a whole host of mounting possibilities if Apple had fitted threaded holes in the back of the iPad?Like the standard hole fitted in the bottom of almost every camera for years. Perhaps 4 of them, just small about 1" or so in from the corners. Flush with the aluminium so nothing sticking out.We could have car mounts, wall mounts, hand straps, even things like Angle Poise stands, all using these standard fixing points set in the aluminium back.

Widgets - Absence Of The Standard IPhone Stock

Feb 3, 2010

here's an interesting piece on the possibility that widgets may appear on the iPad:http://fury.com/2010/02/do-the-ipads...ing-dashboard/This possibility has been the source of speculation by many readers and posters here and elsewhere, possibly motivated by the absence of the standard iPhone Stock and Weather widgets. It also may make some sense as an approach to multitasking.

Device-Is There Any Way Of Managing Multiple With A Standard Image?

Jul 8, 2010

Is there any way of managing multiple iPads with a standard image?I work at a university and we recently purchased a few iPads for checking out to faculty and staff.Ideally, we would like to reimage them when they come back. It's annoying (to say the least) to have to manage multiple iPads in iTunes while trying to keep them with identical apps.Is there anything available like the station Apple uses for iPod demos? That would be ideal, restoring returned hardware to a standard image.

Shouldn't 180 Degree Orientation Be A Standard For All Applications?

Apr 20, 2010

I find it curious that there isn't a de facto standard for viewing angles on all third-party applications, and that some applications literally appear "upside down," when trying to use the iPad in its case - with the easel flap tucked in - for landscape viewing.Jonathan Ives' eloquent "the device conforms to you," notwithstanding, it would seem to me that reorientation - 180 degrees - should be a basic requirement for any iPad application. Of course I can easily flip the iPad around, but then it renders the case design ergonomically ineffective, and hence, I conform.
