With an exception of two all of my books have disappeared from my ibooks book shelf! I can access my account and see those that I have purchased and would like to know if there an easy way to retrieve them?
MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Also have iPad with iOS 5.1.1
Had to do a restore on my iPad2 and the books in my iBooks library disappeared. I figured no problem, just download them again. But when I try to dl from Smashwords I can't. They keep trying to open in my vault app.
When I download books directly to iPad, no problem, but when I download books to my computer and syn to my iPad, the stay spreadout all over my iPad desktop. How can i get books downloaded to my computer to the bookshelf on my iPad ?
Is there a way to lock the order in which iBooks appear on the bookshelf? Every new iTunes update and the last OS revision caused the books to realign themselves on the bookshelf the way they were originally synched and not the way that I've organized them. It wouldn't be that big of an issue but I have a lot of books on my iPad and it messes with my reading order.
After the last upgrade, IBooks doesn't read the Library. The bookshelf appears empty on iPad. But connecting to iTunes you can see that all the Books and Pdf are there. Can somebody help me to solve this problem?
If you followed the news about the iPad, then you know about the iBooks app and store. You may also know that by supporting the EPUB format for books, Apple has given all iBooks users access to not only the tens of thousands of commercial ebooks sold with Fairplay DRM, but also to any DRM-free ebook in the EPUB format. We have already heard about the 30,000+ Gutenberg books that will be included within the iBookstore. What I haven't seen mentioned all that much is the over a million public domain books Google has available in EPUB (link).
I just downloaded the latest version of itunes and the updated version of ipad. My book app. disappeared along with several books, all purchased from itunes. Cannot find it on the computer or the ipad. Am I just out of luck?
I had downloaded about a dozen of books from the free iBooks catalog but today they are all gone. That includes the Winnie the Pooh and iPad user guide. Does anyone know why this happened. I hesitate to use iBooks now until I find out if they are going to disappear on a regular basis.
on my ipad, in the ibooks app, the categories icon disappeared next to the library icon in the top left hand corner, when i go the the top charts in the store..how do i get it back? iBooks: Viewing, syncing, saving, and printing PDFs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch Info: iPad
I bought pages and downloaded the free iBooks apps. Used them yesterday, everything was fine. I hooked into my MacBook air, 10.6.3, opened iTunes and ipad sync then noticed back on the iPad the pages app that I paid for by the way, and the iBook apps are no longer on the iPad.
I find iBooks very useful for storing not only my books but also my PDF files containing recipes, knitting patterns, etc. Only problem is that when I have finished reading a page, the toolbar at the top has disappeared and, even if I tap that area, my Collections option does not always appear.
The iTunes Store is cheaper and you can enjoy immediate purchase! But I still buy books. I got about 200 books. For those here who read a lot of books, would you even consider leaving the physical books to only read ebooks on the iPad?
I could see so many advantages in ebooks (called iBooks) on the iPad: - Immediate purchase, - Cheaper price, - Being able to have all my books when I travel, - Not having to transport heavy boxes of books when I move in a new house, - The instant dictionnary, - Searching content, - Bookmars in color!
The biggest complain is, of course, that reading on a screen is not that good compared to reading a real book. And reading outside (at the beach and/or in a sunny environment) should be far better with an actual book.
i have ordered my new ipad but have not received it yet. can you download books from ibooks and kindle to my itunes before i get it so all i have to do is sync the ipad?, or does the downloads need to go through ipad?
If you *only* have the Kindle app, and not an actual Kindle, is there any way whatsoever to get to the files of the books you have purchased? I want to legitimately purchase some ebooks from Amazon, but I don't like the Kindle app's inability to change the font style (and other stuff). Where are those files actually stored? After some reading it seems like if you have a physical Kindle you can download the files themselves from your Amazon account page directly to your computer, but I get the sense that's not true if you only have the app. And when I look at the free ebooks I've 'bought' from Amazon on my account page, the only option is to deliver them to the iPad.
I have just Downloaded iBooks and lunched it and then went to the iBookstore but the only books I can see there are free books. I am not complaining about this I like things that are free but I would like to buy commercial books to. How do I get access to commercial books to buy is there a setting I need to change in Settings or iTunes?
