File Access Or Transfer Via Wifi Network

Jun 9, 2010

Is there a way to access files (e.g. Word, Excell) that are on my desktop PC via my wifi network? The Apple saleman said no; you'll have to somehow use iTunes to transfer the file.If I have to use iTunes, how do I do that? And where do the files end up? If I boot up an app to edit one of these files, does it ask me which files to open?

How To Get WiFi Password To IPad 2 For Network Access

Oct 15, 2011

I just got an iPad 2 wifi and want to allow it to access my wifi network which is WPA2 protected. I have a complex passphrase on the WPA2 to keep my network safe. How do I get the passphrase onto my iPad so I can paste it into the password box to access my network? Typing the password in is my last resort being that it's a long complex password and it would be far easier to cut and paste it in like I do with my computers. Can I do it through iTunes?

USB Wifi Drives - Camera Connection Kit

Aug 12, 2010

those USB dongles that connect to an external drive to allow wireless access to the drive? If you have one and could see if its accessible via iFile (available via Cydia) when you plug it into the USB adapter from the Camera Connection Kit, it would be great to hear your results.Right now there's another thread regarding video files and playback from SD media using the kit, but I think this could apply to other uses and files.http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=989675I'm hoping someone can work this out. I'm guessing it would need power via an external source since you won't be getting USB power (and I've not actually used one of these wifi drive adapters before).

General :: Access PDF Files (magazines) Over WiFi From IMac On IPad

Sep 12, 2014

at the minute i lob any downloaded magazine and cook book pdfs into my copy.com folder, and then use 'documents to go' to download, but that seems a bit daft. copying from mac to copy.com over the internet, just so i can download from the internet onto the iPad which is in the same room as the iMac.

what id like ideally is a way of accessing a folder with my magazines in, see it with the icon previews, and download over wifi direct to the iPad, which would be faster and not using my internet bandwidth.

Bluetooth Capability To Access Bluetooth Hard Drives?

Jun 16, 2010

I was wondering if you can use the bluetooth capability in the Ipad to access a bluetooth hard drive or flash drive for extra storage? If not do they have any plans to make this available in future updates. Just curious. I am going to be doing some camping and would like to be able to store extra movies and such on my Ipad.

Won't Sync From PC / Can't Access Network

Nov 12, 2010

I clearly am missing something here. I downloaded a series of apps to my laptop, thinking I could then just synch the apps over to the iPad the following day when I was off the network. Simply copy job, I didn't think there would be an issue.

The iPad did synch with the laptop without a problem, but I ran into a series of authorization errors on the laptop side, even though this was the computer with which I downloaded the apps to begin with.

I can't access the network where I am now, but I didn't thing that since this was essentially a pc-pc copy that I would have to have network access.

When promtped to authorize the laptop to the iPad, the authorization gets rejected because I can't access iTunes over the network that I can't access. BUT, I really don't want the apps on the iPad to be copied over to the laptop anyway...I want the iPad to grab data from the laptop.

So, I am baffled... just what is expected to get the data from the laptop to the iPad?

Windows 7

Access A Carriers 3G Network - 3g Versions ?

Nov 14, 2010

I'm thinking about getting an iPad soon and was wondering if buying the 3G Version was actually worth it, because don't you have to spend a certain amount of money a month in order to access a carriers 3G Network?I was thinking about getting the 32gb 3G iPad, but if the 3G one requires me to pay more every month after purchasing the actual iPad, wouldn't it be smarter to buy the 64GB Ipad without 3G for just about the same price?

Network Shared Folder Access

Apr 2, 2010

One thing that would be a big deal for me would be the ability to directly access shared files on another computer's hard disk over the WiFi network. Technically, I don't see why this should not be possible--say, you're in Pages, and you want to open a document that's on your iMac. It would be a pain to have to either tether and sync, or else put the iPad down and go over and email or otherwise somehow transfer the data. I had hoped that one would simply go to the Document Manager and have direct access to shared network disks from there. I would rather not pre-load to the iPad the hundreds or thousands of work files I have stored on my iMac just on the off-chance I'll want to work on one on my iPad (and then deal with keeping them current). This becomes much more an issue when dealing with higher-capacity files, such as music, movies, and photos, where even 64 GB won't necessarily hold all you want to access.
