Thought I would start a thread for those of us who missed the late April deadline. I placed my order April 23rd, order number 69799###. Apple has charged my credit card, but my order still says "not yet shipped."

I've pre-ordered the 64GB 3G iPad. I will NOT be buying a WiFi-only model, just to sell it or return it when the 3G models arrive. I'm going to patiently wait for my 3G iPad and, by the time it arrives, the WiFi-only folks will have shaken the iPad down, figured out the best apps, decided on the best case(s), and generally saved me a bunch of hassle in getting the most out of my 3G iPad.

Here are some of questions I have about it.1. On the top of the iPad there is a small hole next to the headphone jack (picture attached).2. The button next to the slide to unlock (picture) So just post things in the hardware or software that seem foreign to you.
I'll be using my iPad 3G to kill time as I wait on line to get my reserved iPhone 4 at 7am on Thursday. It'll be fun to watch all the people on the non-reserved standby line gawk. Unfortunately, I can only wear one Rolex but I'll have my BMW keyfob and photos of my McMansion and beach house on the iPad to entertain the less fortunate.I plan to use my iPhone 4's HD video recording capability to its fullest and am wondering if anyone knows if the iPad 3G will "see" the iPhone 4 as a camera so I can unload the private HD video of the trophy wife onto the iPad 3G to make room for more HD shooting the next night.

I am starting to feel like a minority for not ordering one!So this thread is for people who are patiently waiting and will hopefully be justified by reasonable prices and the correct plug.Anyone have a prediction for a date...? I have a sneaky suspicion they may arrive earlier than late May, for the PR value.

You can also post any news that you know of about any upcoming apps for the ipad. I believe the apps that will be made for the ipad will make it a great machine for all kinds of people. Also no flaming the ipad, there are a lot of other threads for that. But reasonable discussion is allowed.

View 24 RepliesPaid $500 for this thing and cant even use it more than 5 minutes before it logs me off my network or asks for the password again. Most the time I have to try multiple times before I can get back on. Meanwhile, my Macbook runs just fine on the same wifi network. Taking it back first thing in the morning, ridiculous.
View 24 RepliesI am curious what others who are sitting on the fence over getting an iPad are looking for/want from the iPad before they get one. Here is my short list of must haves that would make me rush out to get one tomorrow (instead of waiting a while since I will get by Christmas at the latest I imagine).1 - A near lag-free iTunes remote app. I have used the one for the iPod Touch and it isn't bad, but the lag is really a drawback. I am not sure if this can easily be fixed (perhaps if it communicated via bluetooth instead of airport this would solve the problem, which I am not sure if the iPad does). This would make listening to music on my stereo during those times when I didn't want to change CD's or records all the time a great experience.

I know she will come around, but the fact that, even though I could be reading the Wall Street Journal or War and Peace on the thing, to her it's just me "having my face in front of the computer" for more hours a day. Of course I could be doing the same thing reading tree pulp and she souldn't say a word.
View 24 RepliesI'm waiting for my iPad (did try it at the store a few times) and I have an iPhone. One thing I hate about both is the Home button. I think it's just out of place of the "pure software in your hands" paradigm. It's stiff and just plain stupid. Do we really need it? It could be replaced with a simple gesture: touch screen with all 5 fingers and you go to Home screen. Double-click of Home button can be replaced with double tap with 5 fingers. Much simpler and faster than pushing the button that sometimes on the bottom, sometimes at right, left, or top.

View 24 RepliesI am trying to find out if this auto brightness issue is a norm or is only affecting just small pool of people which in this case will be a manufacturing or hardware issue. Have went through a few forum thread and realized that there are a group of people including myself facing this problem. Can someone reply this thread if you do not face any problem with the suto brightness ? Which means the auto brightness works when u move your iPad from a dim spot to a brighter spot.

I hate when I'm running an app and my iPad closes the app and then I have to restart the app.. It's almost as bad as freezing up..It does this a lot with my apps as well as safari, and the yt app.. It will close the website and exit out of the browser.. Then I have to restart the browser, it is frustrating as hell..Also with chess.com app I make a move and then it exits out of the app and I have to reconnect to the app , go thru the process of it loading, connecting and then continue a game, make move only for it to exit app again, WTF!?
Just picked up a 64gig at Best Buy yesterday, installed Air Video this morning and had a little spare time to watch my favorite tv show
