3G Wireless Access Via AT&T - Still Access The WSJ ?

Nov 13, 2010

I am purchasing an Ipad and would be interested in using the WSJ application (and dropping my paper delivery). However, after researching the WSJ application, I cannot determine if I would need to have 3G wireless access to be able to read the WSJ everywhere. my question is, if I purchase an Ipad without 3G wireless access via AT&T, can I still access the WSJ everywhere by using the WSJ app? If so, would I need to download the paper each morning before I commute to work (i.e. while at home, using my wireless access), or does the $18/month charge for the WSJ provide you with access to the paper everywhere (without needing to download each morning, and without having wireless access)? I would appreciate any help that a WSJ app user could provide...mac

USB Document Access & Wireless Printing

Aug 11, 2010

My wife uses an XP based netbook for her job, simple client info document use she does nothing really difficult or demanding with this machine.

Her birthday is next month and I`d like to replace her netbook with an IPad however I have a few reservations.

She is not very computer literate nor does she have a consistent wireless network at her job so please keep that in mind when giving advice/recommendations for the reservations and questions I have below.

1; Will the IPad print wirelessly through my Airport Express?

2: Is there anyway to access/save documents (.doc, .pdf .xls) from/to a USB flash drive with the IPad?(files cannot be saved wirelessly to Airstash)

3: Are there any "must have" accessories that any of you feel greatly enhances the use of this tablet?

If the answer to either of these questions is "no" what do you think the odds are these needs might be accommodated in future versions of the IPad?

I am considering the 16GB version as I`m planning on upgrading 2nd or 3rd generation.

Information:
Macbook Pro
Mac OS X (10.6)
Mac Mini

Apps (games) And Wireless Access

Nov 6, 2010

We are thinking of purchasing an ipad for a cognitively impaired relative, who would use it for a variety of games. We understand that wireless in some form is required to download and install games, but also understood that it was possible to lock out wireless thereafter. Now our understanding is that many (most? nearly all?) games (apps) loaded on the ipad require wireless to be successfully played and that it is impossible to tell before purchasing whether a particular game requires wireless to be used. Is this correct? If so, we'll go back to a laptop and using PC discs, which we would like to avoid (since these discs get scratched and quickly become unusable). We also would be interested in whether others in similar circumstances have found the Ipad to be usable for the cognitvely impaired. thanks. Bear199

Access To Outlook Web Access 2003 Server

Jun 12, 2010

I'd like to be able to access an Outlook Web Access 2003 server from my iPad. On my PC, I go to h_ttps://wtcmail.companyname.com/exchange/ (note that there is no undescore, but this forum won't allow me to have a link in my posts yet) and then I enter my username and password. When I do this via Safai, it fails. A window titled Secure Website Log into this secure website appears. It does not accept my credentials.

Suggestions appreciated. Is it the browser? Do I need a special app? Is it a setting?

This is my first post on this site. I apologize if I'm in the wrong spot.

Unable To Access/cannot Access To Home Button?

Sep 23, 2010

I just purchased the ipad for my son, who will be using the iPad to communicate through visual aids, since he is not able to talk. For example, he will go to pictures and tap on a picture of food when he is hungry. One issue that we notice on the ipod touch and which also happens on the ipad, is that if he touches the home button all the efforts he has made are lost.

If he is watching a movie and the home button is pushed, the movie is turned off. This is a point of frustration for him and us. Is there a way to disable the home button, while he is using some of these applications? Can someone give us some advice? Thank you,

User Access Control? (turn Off GPS; RO Access)

Feb 20, 2011

My friend who is a medical doctor wants to know whether these are possible and how?

1. Disable the ipad user from turning of the device that reports location of the ipad (GPS?) so he can know where it is all the time.

If this is not possible with ipad native feature, which program will be needed to do this?

2. Let the ipad user access some folders with read only (cannot change/delete/add files).

If this is not possible with ipad native feature, which program will be needed to do this?

Itunes Can Not Access But Window Access

Aug 25, 2010

When I plug my iPods in Windows I can see an icon in "My Computer" or Computer and double click on it to access files. However with my iPad, the icon shows up but I cannot see anything. When I click on the icon, nothing happens at all. It's like it does not want to go in. When I go into iTunes, the iPad is there, it synchs and all is fine.

I imported a bunch of NEF photos from Nikon and I am told the only way to retrieve them is through the icon in explorer. The photos do not show up in iTunes at all. Don't tell me to e-mail them like others have suggested as I have 30Gb of photos in RAW format. Also I don't want to convert them to JPGs to see them in iTunes. I just want to see my files and manage them from Windows explorer or if it can be done through iTunes but in RAW format.

Does anyone know why the icon does not open??? I am running Windows 7, 64bits with all of the latest updates.

Information:
ASUS
Windows 7
Win 7 64bit

Cannot Access Pop Up Window Appear?

Nov 29, 2010

I've recently noticed, after updating to the iOS 4.2.1 that when the iPad isn't being used for a while, I get a pop up window which reads, "CANNOT ACCESS xx@xxxxxx.com. Review your account information Settings". Then you can either click OK (3 times to make this window disappear) or click Settings and when I go to settings, the account email address is fine and Find My iPad in On.The Apple ID info seems right on both the iPad and online site. I did receive the "Please verify the contact email address for your Apple ID" and this checks out fine.Any ideas as to why I get the pop up "Cannot Access" window?

Cannot Access The Internet

Apr 30, 2010

I have a Linksys 300N router connected to a PC running Windows 7 and use a WPA2 to access the home network. I cannot access the internet on the iPad. It connects for about 4 seconds and then drops for about 4 seconds. I went to the net and checked the router configurations but am not sure what or if I need to change a setting or not. I have a dSL (Verizon) and both the router and iPad are set to DCHP, I have put no restrictions on internet access and well that is it.
