Weak/Intermittent WiFi/turned Off Auto-Brightness

Apr 11, 2010

I just wanted to share what worked for me. I turned the Auto-Brightness setting off and immediately had a strong and steady WiFi signal. Nothing else has worked. I'm assuming the sensor must somehow interfere with WiFi reception and turning it off has made all the difference in the world. I
hope this can help some others because I can certainly understand how frustrating this is for everyone. Nothing like getting a new toy and having an expensive paperweight!

Auto Brightness Enabled - Controls The Brightness With It's Light Sensor

Jun 12, 2011

I'm assuming I'm right in thinking with auto brightness enabled the iPad controls the brightness with it's light sensor. If that's the case then why when it is enabled and I move the slider this overrides the auto battery. So what are the best settings slider down and auto or slide up and auto what's best for battery.

Auto Brightness And Wi-Fi?

May 7, 2010

I have had consistent Wi-Fi signal strength fluctuations from day one of the iPad release. After reading the Apple knowledge base article I turned off the auto-brightness setting on my iPad. This miraculously has taken care of my problem and the iPad connects at 10,000 kbps consistently, just as rock solid as my laptop speed tests.

Auto Brightness - Display Looks Like Going

Jun 20, 2010

my iPad's auto brightness seems doesn't work that well at all compare to iPhone/iPod touch. Every day, i have to adjust manually for the day time and night time. It is kinda getting annoying. Is it my iPad a faulty unit or it is actually how iPad has been designed?I can see brightness changes a very tiny bit here and there. Most of the times my display looks like going only slight brighter and slight darke

Auto-Brightness In Settings

Aug 31, 2010

When I turn on/enable the Auto-Brightness in settings, there seems to be no change when I go from a pitch black room to bright sunlight or anywhere in between. I have to use the slider. This is also the problem with my iTouches. Am I doing something wrong? None of the sensors are covered by cases or obstructed.

Auto-brightness Does Not Work Well

Apr 7, 2010

Do you find that the auto-brightness function of iPad kind of sucks? It's too bright in the dark and not bright enough in a well-lit room. I realize this probably functions just as poorly on Macbook Pro; however, it's much more convenient to change screen brightness on MBs. With the iPad, I constantly find myself going to setting and drag the bar back and forth for screen brightness

Do Not Have Auto Brightness - Thread

Jul 27, 2010

I am trying to find out if this auto brightness issue is a norm or is only affecting just small pool of people which in this case will be a manufacturing or hardware issue. Have went through a few forum thread and realized that there are a group of people including myself facing this problem. Can someone reply this thread if you do not face any problem with the suto brightness ? Which means the auto brightness works when u move your iPad from a dim spot to a brighter spot.

Auto-Brightness Not Adjusting?

Jun 15, 2012

On my New iPad the screen brightness does not adjust when I more from a dark room to a light room or vary the lights in a room. I have :Verified that auto brightness is onReset the unit by holding down the power and main button until the unit rebooted.Tested by covering the sensor (right above the front facing camera) with my hand.Tested by walking from rooms with no sunlight to rooms with direct sunlight.Tested by turning off and on lights in a room.

I took it to the Apple store and the Genius Bar guy was able to get it to work but only when going from the lock screen to the "normal screen (ie any screen that appears when the unit is locked)". Once it is in a normal screen the auto brightness does not vary the ambient light intensity. He stated this was how it was supposed to work. This does not sound correct and is different from any other device I have (phones, computers, Android tablets, etc).

Can someone try steps 3,4, and 5 above and let me know if their screen brightness changes? Also, do others believe that this (only changing from coming out of the lock screen) is the way auto brightness should work?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi

Auto-brightness - Ability To Get Dimmer

Jul 27, 2010

Is anyone else having auto-brightness problems with their iPad? Mine seems to work when going from a dark room to a highly lit room. The screen will get brighter. It's when I go from a highly lit room to a dark room that the brightness stays at the higher level and doesn't adjust down. My iPhone works nicely. It will adjust either way. This iPad only gets brighter and doesn't have the ability to get dimmer. Mac OS X (10.6.3)
