View 9 RepliesWe will soon start a series of interviews in which we show the respondent a map and ask them to mark locations with particular ecological characteristics. We usually do this with paper maps but have been investigating whether we might use an iPad instead. Are there applications that will load standard maps, e.g., the NOAA charts used for marine navigation (.KAP and .BSB files, I believe) and allow the user to mark locations (particular spots and areas)?

My location in maps on my iPad shows me at my address and also the house across the street, any ideas why, or if I can correct it? When I click the pin it lists the 2 addresses like 12-18 Apple street and the pin bounces between the two locations. My wifi is set up correctly and location settings are activated.Could it be wifi interference between two wireless routers?

Both desktop computer & iPhone using 'Find my iPad' can find, send sound & message etc. to iPad, BUT NOT DISPLAY MAP of iPad location on either Mac or iPhone (location services are switched ON on iPad).
However iPad CAN see it's own location in it's Maps App.
I have rebooted and reset iPad.
What am I missing or is this an inherent issue?

I'm looking for a good app on the Ipad to plan a future trip abroad.Technically I would like to do something similar to the desktop version of google maps: search for places, place pins and add comments and notes on the map for future reference, create itineraries and so on.Unfortunately, the ipad version of google maps doesn't allow to create custom maps with pins, but only allow to create bookmarks, which is not as interesting in this case.I looked for a few apps but could only find some allowing geotagging notes, and not placing notes on a map.

View 2 RepliesI have used the compass feature in maps successfully at home. Currently, I am in an area with no hot spots but I do have Internet connectivity by DSL. Maps cannot determine the location which isn't surprising but the compass feature doesn't work either.
View 1 RepliesIf you press the current location button and walk around you will get a compass type feature.

Ok, so here it goes, I've been using notes for addresses on my ipad because it would link the address to google maps,(you know you just tap the address in notes and gmaps would launch and zoom in on the address) but now it's not doing this. is there a preference or something that i messed up to stop it from working?
