Multi-user Support - Iwork Files

Jan 28, 2010

One thing I think is being overlooked is that there has been no mention so far of multi-user support on the iPad. It seems like it would be a device that could easily be shared amongst multiple people in a household, but there would be no clear way for each particular user to have their own unique experience. Say you didn't want your iPad experience to be cluttered with games, and you want to keep little Johnny from deleting your iWork files, how would you do this without buying two?

Stylus Support - Keynote To Support Annotations As Hand Writing ?

Apr 29, 2010

I'm writing this message as today after iPhone OS 4.0 preview I got really disappointed with Steve's answer to one of the question "if you see a stylus, they blew it". I really think this is wrong. I know it's been some time since Steve has gone to uni but making notes, annotations or writing equations without a pen isn't much fun!Giving people a choice to buy or not to buy the stylus won't hurt Apple. I know that there are some alternatives not developed by Apple, but apparently they're not that good/accurate.Surely adding a feature to PDF Preview or Keynote to support annotations as hand writing wouldn't be too much of a challenge to Apple's development team, or would it?

International Support - IE Support

Apr 14, 2010

I'm slightly fed up with what is now the second delay to the iPad's international launch (indeed, the Irish site doesn't even say anything about the 10 May pre-order date, so we could be getting it even later than everyone else), so I'm looking at getting one brought over from the US now.I was wondering - if I do this, what is my support situation? If there's a problem with it, would Apple IE support me? What if I bought AppleCare, is that universal? And would either of these change once the iPad is (eventually) released over here - would they accept a US iPad for repair then?

General :: Managing Files On IPad - Folders To Organize Files And Backup Via Dropbox

Jun 17, 2013

I am using Office HD to update former xlsx or Word files. I downloaded legacy files from PC laptop to Dropbox. I also have File Manager but not sure I need that; seems redundant. I want to save and backup files via dropbox or icloud. When I create or update a file in Office it saves to folders in Office. I do not see how to save or move the updated file to Dropbox or File Mgr.

I do not want to keep moving them from one folder structure to use, and another structure to backup.

Transfer Files To Ipad 2 And Store Them In Typical Directories So That These Common Files Can Be Launched With Various Apps

Apr 25, 2011

I'm wondering if there's some way I can transfer files to my ipad2 and store them in typical directories so that these common files can be launched with various apps. I've seen a million "file manager" apps that allow klugey transfers from a PC by setting up a network drive, starting the file manager app, then dragging and dropping files into the ipad, but this solution has a number of flaws for my purposes (something similar can be done in itunes, but it's far more limited):

1. I have to initiate the whole thing from my PC. This wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to have the app actively running on the ipad too, which requires me to access both devices.

2. It still doesn't let me load the transferred files with any other apps.

3. They all have extremely limiting options as far as compatibility with file types.

What this leads to is a million file managers, each with an embedded web browser, pdf viewer, image viewer, and video player. So if I find that I like the PDF viewer of Goodreader (I do - it's excellent) but the picture viewer of readdledocs, then I have to have two distinct (and somewhat complicated) processes for transferring the different types of files over.

I'm guessing that what I'm looking for just doesn't exist, but it'd be nice to be able to actually have a universal file manager with directories. Then I could open any of my media apps and just load up any one of the compatible files.

Failing that, at the very least, I'd like a way to actually reach out to my PC and grab files to save in my various apps (like Goodreader). For instance, if I want to transfer a PDF file from my PC that has the files all shared on my network drive, and I don't want to leave my bed where I'm reading on my ipad. Possible? From what I can tell Goodreader and ReaddleDocs won't connect to network drives, and I have no FTP server or other similarly fancy file sharing technique.

Another scenario (same problem) I'm trying to address is if I'm at a friend or coworker's house and they have some files I'd like to get onto my Ipad for use/viewing (and they're too large to email). I also don't want to have to guide them through a 10 min process of setting up a network drive on their computer and transferring that way. I'd love to be able to just plug in and have them drag and drop the files or even to just grab them from a network shared directory.

Note: I'm not averse to jailbreaking if this is what it would take (when one is available for ipad2)

Transfer Mp3 Files (not Itune Files) From Computer To Ipad 2?

May 31, 2012

I have many mp3 music files I downloaded from an early jazz web site to my computer, and want to transfer them to my Ipad. They are not ITune files. How can I do this? They are not organized and it would be nice if the program provided a means of doing so. I purchased my IPad in December 2012, and assume it is an IPad2.

Will IPad 3 Have Support For T-Mobile

Jan 4, 2012

T-Mobile is slowly losing market share and is doing what they can to attract iPhone using customers, what is chances they are begging/bribing Apple to support their network with iPad 3 (let alone iPhone 5)?

Sure it is not cell service, but still a revenue source. Parents have ATT iPad 2 even though used to have T-mo service.
